And even in 2013 and post Obama, for the US a performative piece with Marilyn and R Kelly, a black guy, might be casting the Marilyn mythology in a new light. Anyways, she has huge boots to fill doing a Marilyn. POP culture fans should watch the 1991 Oscars where Madonna landed the best pop performance ever of Marilyn with her performance of Sooner or Later. It has every chance of being a smash hit, but I fear heavily that this performance will only promote negativity for it and it could consequently suffer. This seems to me to be a transparent attempt at creating a water cooler moment, of which she hasn't had yet this era. I think it would've been a lot more powerful if she went on stage looking immaculately s-xy and singing her heart out with R.Kelly with some choreo thats within her dancing ability (because the choreo on SNL was disastrous). I really want this song to be presented to the public in an inarguably great way. Miming s-x with him on a set that looks like the oval office presumably taking roles as Marilyn and JFK (only days after the anniversary of his death) seems like an awful awful idea. I know im being such a stan being paranoid before shes even performed anything but I love her and I love this song and I want nothing but the best.
