Altair 2,000
This is actually what she said lastnight @ the artrave, the label wanted a more relatable song to the public, so she had to change the lyric Lol really?
ClapDown 0
Maybe one day she'll make a song called Coke. "I need you more than COKE!" The gp will think it's a song about the soft drink. :nooo: Maybe it would be good for a Pepsi campaign.

Applause And Gypsy for an iTunes/Random Retailer bonus I feel like all of these songs perfectly exemplify the concept of art and pop coming together. Songs like Dope, Fashion!, and Jewels N' Drugs don't really do that, imo.

XoXoJoanneGaga 629
This is actually what she said lastnight @ the artrave, the label wanted a more relatable song to the public, so she had to change the lyric But she said in an interview that Interscope loved the ballad and was pressuring her to release it, since ballads are hot atm, so she rebelled and made it as raw and uncomfortable as possible
Miel 15,009
Personally, I feel like Dope was written as an amalgam of multiple situations. I assumed that the addiction aspect of the song didn't solely apply just to marijuana, considering her past with alcoholism and harder d--gs. While I'm pretty sure it's about her retrospective of the time of late 2012/early 2013 ('Princess High'), I don't doubt that she pulled in a retrospective from farther back, also. how was she addicted to weed? LOL serious question here. I don't get it My guess is that people have different physiological reactions to different chemicals. I think Gaga started using copious amounts of marijuana as a means to cope with her bodily pain (late 2012/early 2013), but I have a feeling its gateway was a wholly different reason- I mean, we all remember Princess High. It probably just spiked from there, getting worse when she started using it to ignore the bodily pains. She mentioned somewhere that she used it so much, it started clouding her general perception of things, finding clarity mostly in performing and nothing else. But she said in an interview that Interscope loved the ballad and was pressuring her to release it, since ballads are hot atm, so she rebelled and made it as raw and uncomfortable as possible I think she wrote it both as a cathartic, therapeutic method to coping with whatever she was dealing with, and also as a big 'fück you' to her label, who she probably felt was trying to box her in per what was 'hot and in'. 3 points in and ready for more
Elizabeth 450
I think it's about substance addcition in general, rather than just weed. I feel like she didn't even write the song. To me it seems as though she doesn't like it much. I feel like she originally wrote "I wanna be with you" and she loved it but her record label or something didn't think the idea of a song about her fans would sell as much as a song about a person and d--gs so they completely changed the song and now she hates it. Keep in mind that this Is what I think and don't give me any negative backlash on my thoughts. K bye. It would be near impossible to give a raw and emotional performance, like Gaga has often done with Dope, if you didn't write it. I think it's a bit silly to suggest that tbh. I don't think that it's that she doesn't like it, rather that she wrote it when she was going through a hard time and doesn't want to relive that when performing it.
