It's such rotten luck that the album was released when her lead single was finally dying and her second single was just getting started. I think they underestimated how much of an effect having a huge hit single at the moment of release can have. DWUW should have been pushed harder from the get-go or they should have tried to breathe some more life back into Applause late in the game. I feel like radio airplay alone has been carrying Applause the last several weeks. The 3 promo singles was a mess and just confused the GP and radio as to what the real second single was (particularly with the last-minute change-up).

 

DWUW is a smash waiting to happen. Whether it actually ends up smashing in reality, however, is up to Interscope.

Maybe some of us get sick of adolescent meltdowns all the time. It's not Gaga's charting, it's the negativity on this board.

It's not enough to have negativity when we get bad news. We now have to have pre-meltdown over next week's projected sales, and then relive it again when sales are final.

DWUW is being squandered by Gagas behind the scenes fight currently, idk wtf is going on back there but it needs to stop. Like, now. The fact she said internal changes are taking up her schedule so casually in her interview in Canada is just stupid. How could any rational person think that's okay when you have a new album out? Your schedule should be full of promotional spots and ideas and performance concepts, not meetings for a new manager because you fired everyone

There's a very fine line between irrational negativity and speaking objectively about what one perceives as "bad promotion." I definitely try to stray away from irrationality. But I do think it's more helpful to confront negative irrationality by calmly recognizing the situation rather than pretending like no problems or issues exist. That only makes the opposition more hostile and, inevitably, self-righteous.

 

This board just needs to learn how to objectively critique a song's chart-run without getting too emotional about the artist themselves... Of course, that'll probably never happen.

 

Does anyone know how many spins DWUW got on Z100 on KIIS today? The sub 1M updates are painful at this stage in the game.

Yeah. I mean, obviously we have very limited knowledge of what's going on behind the scenes, but dramas within Gaga's team need to be sorted out ASAP.
