pezzz 0
sorry but how is it self important? It's basically about Gaga being forgotten and falling into irrelevancy. The ending isn't even happy. It's a great commentary on fame culture, and really any "it" pop star could have played this role. It's just a little sad because some can see it as reflective of their current space in pop culture, and to make such a statement is at Gaga's expense. Self-important??? Not even in the least. It was more like self-deprecating! I guess all I meant was that it was a skit about Gaga played by Gaga commenting on Gaga's career, arguably in an all-too-relevant jab at media speculation that she's slipping/will be forgotten. IIRC, she said the skit was her idea too. Also, the fact that it was more dark than hilarious was off-putting for a show like SNL. Given that it was HER episode, she's allowed. It was just a lot deeper and darker than the other sketches. She took a risk where she had something to lose, and imho I don't think it paid off. giskardsb 12,565
She took a risk where she had something to lose, and imho I don't think it paid off. she got overwhelmingly positive reviews both overall and for that skit though, so I think it paid off fine. Smooth Criminal 2
she got overwhelmingly positive reviews both overall and for that skit though, so I think it paid off fine. THIS. And everywhere on the internet....and I mean everywhere...ppl are applauding her. She has turned many haters into fans, just read ppls comments. So that is a victory on its own. Gaga is smart, she knew what she was doing.
tristessa 0
This was my thought from the very beginning. I'm sorry but I just didn't believe that they came to her and said "okay so we wanna do a skit where you're a completely irrelevant nobody". That would make no sense. These last few months one of the most vocal people about Gaga's "downfall" has been Gaga herself. I liked the skit a lot but, and I hope no one takes this the wrong way, but it got a bit too self-indulgent for me. Still brilliant no less, as we see it got everyone talking. Hairypig 0
Yeah, that skit felt like it was made as a nod to the little monsters rather than the viewers. but **** the general viewers, it was a great skit. hail empress Beyoncé!
HausOfMiklaus 1,803
God, I needed someone to hold me after that. :emo: It was both comedic with bittersweet undertones, you could tell even the audience was confused on whether to laugh or to comfort her. She has to know that she has my undying love.
