Liam Germanotta 3
this isn't true. that would be Katy Perry tbh Sorry, but it's a fact that she's not. Don't tell me the biggest popstar worldwide drops as hell with her album all over Europe, German chart run for PRISM (3rd to 4th largest music market in the world): 4-19-32 Katy Perry is not the biggest pop star worldwide, and this is a fact. I don't know if there is currently anybody that is eligible to have that title. Perhaps Rihanna, when you count all the factors together, but then again we can discuss about 3rd & 4th single sales, album sales, blah.

justbrian 98
People need to give the album a damn chance to increase in sales. It's the 1st week omg. Ever heard of longevity?? Applause is still in the top 10 for Billboard after 3 months. All her other "hits" from before either took weeks to get up there or dropped after 4-6 weeks from the top 10. Gaga is promoting at a steady pace; the last thing we need right now are the following 2 things: 1) the preachiness and self-empowerment speeches that people got tired of after a few months and 2) the constant in your face appearances. When Born This Way dropped, she was everywhere--every talk show, every late night show, every venue had her like every other week. People get tired. The less we see her, the more people will start to crave her. Seriously, people here spend more time fueling negativity rather than having a glimpse of hope. Whatever happened to staying positive?? Amen. She's doing just fine, once again everyone getting caught up in sales. www.brianhowarddesign.com

JaggedMonster 2
We can't blame the GP only... I didn't think it before but with these predictions I belive BTW era affected her fanbase too, much more than I thought This..
Mister G 10,430
Isn't that because of payola? I doubt it boo. Born This Way the single was number on iTunes for like 2 weeks but then by the time Judas and The Edge of Glory came out it dropped to I think the 30's or so. Applause is sitting at #11 last time I checked. It's almost as if the song won't die.
N0LAN 0
Im starting to really hate being a part of the online Little Monsters community, it seems that the majority of fans would rather Gaga have mainstream success over a more creative and artistic product. Think of David Bowie or Grace Jones, their music never sold as much as Madonna or Michael Jackson but they are still remembered for their music, and are respected a lot more than the latter artists. I tend to find that what is the most popular with the GP is the least artistic and most basic, if you look at films, the most popular films are dumb action blockbusters made for profit, whereas the most artistic arthouse releases barely make any money at all, yet are so much better. If you're here for mainstream success over music you may as well go and stan for Katy or Miley, watching all of Gaga's recent interviews it has become so clear that she cares more about her artistry than how it does on the charts. Also, I dont know why you lot are worrying when her album is a good 20 places ahead of PRISM on the Amazon annual chart, she had 100k preorders and most of her sales are going to come from the physical copies considering she has tweeted about the foil cover and now the golden tickets. It seems that HDD isnt ALWAYS right in their predictions. So just relax and enjoy the music, if she does in fact sell 250-275k she will have pretty much equalled what Katy and Miley have done, who are considered much bigger stars in the mainstream population. That's the thing though, fans admire her BECAUSE she's innovative, mainstream success is just a sideline. People praise her because while she struggled with some of the mainstream success of the 'Born This Way' era, the music still had so much substance. ARTPOP lacks that edge that fans were looking and hoping for. It was over hyped with claims of being revolutionary to Gaga's career and the fact that so much time and effort was put into the music. Yet a good portion of the album does not deliver to what fans know she is capable of. Not only isn't it doing so well on the charts, it's not satisfying to a large portion of her fan base either. And that's why people are being so critical. With a dramatic title such as ARTPOP people were expecting something with much more creativity to it. This isn't me being cynical, I'm just trying to come up with an explanation. Personally I'm happy with a lot of the songs on the album, but I understand why some aren't. The album is a smooth ride all the way through, there isn't any iconic material like what was present in her past three releases.
