You can't compare it against BTW sales because it was a completely different situation that Gaga was in, she had just come off TFM success. ARTPOP is coming off of the success of BTW which was still successful but turned a lot of people off her. Just a few comparisons: Prism: 286,000 Bangerz: 270,000 Right here are the numbers we need to look at. Miley has literally been a promotion machine since June, and Katy's label busted their hump to promote her in every way, shape, and form, yet they only pulled in those numbers. Gaga has done very, very limited performances in the US, and covered a few magazines. No twerking, no gold-plated semi truck, nothing of that nature. Does anyone know how many of the BTW first week sales were from the Amazon shenanigans so we can have a slightly better figure for comparison? And if someone really wants to support our queen, buy a second digital copy via the app. I'm not here for cheap gimmicks to inflate sales. Either people will buy it this week or they won't. She can lose 15-20% and still sell 535-570k. I don't put a lot of stock in singles sales and social media dominance as a predictor of sales, cause Katy and Rihanna have them a plenty. I think a single or two down the line will sell many more albums. Many of my friends who aren't Gaga fans liked the album a lot after I gave it to them to listen -- people just need to be exposed to it a bit more.
