Yes, her vocals were magnificent. Yes, it was a great mini-concert. That's the problem for me. I felt like it was a frigging mini-concert. I mean... It was totally different from what I expected! ArtRave? I thought she was gonna bomb the hell out of the public and viewers with techy art and inventions, and not write "gaga" and "koons" all over the place in the most simplistic way possible and throw a few sculptures here and there on the dance floor. A dance floor which looked much more like a General Admission session at a concert. And that pisses me off. I guess I was really expecting a rave, and we all know how many times Gaga said that the album had been made to be listened from start to finish in one big shot, and the experience was something like being at a rave with your friends celebrating dance, s-x, art, pop, tech and love and etcetera. That felt nothing like what she said! I was so mad that she performed only 9 songs; that's practically saying "who said anything about an ArtRave with random performance art, Marina Abramovic, Robert Wilson, Jeff Koons, I&V, technological inventions and pumping music all night long for the crowd on the dance floor? I'll just make this ultra-hyped event my album debut party/concert with little highlights from the album and the most basic and simplistic decoration and production possible! Look at me, I'm changing the standards of what art means!" I mean, what the fvck, Gaga? You hype us like hell for just another Swinefest? I thought you were going for the event of the year here, not a repetition of what you did before, and what's worse, to the wrong crowd. Which also pisses me off. If they were all little monsters, fine, it could be Swinefest #2, #3, #4 and so on. Hell, it could be (and was) almost like a preview to the ARTPOP Ball. But honey, with that crowd you had on ArtRave, you can't just expect them to scream in excitement and not go all "awkney" when you go offstage for 5 minutes for an outfit change and leave 'em hanging in absolute silence in the darkness! Put on some goddamn background music, for Christ's sake, that's basic party-hoster conduct! And don't center the entire party around you and your performances! Especially when you stay there for about an hour only, when a real rave is supposed to last much more than that (and you need to MAKE it last). I guess what I'm trying to say is: As a concert, I loved it. Especially ARTPOP, MANiCURE, Gypsy, Dope and DWUW. As an ArtRave, I was underwhelmed, disappointed and felt cheated. Like I've been false advertised to. So yeah. That's my opinion and I just wanted to put it out there. I don't even know if anyone's gonna read this, but fvck it, I needed to get it out and admit that I don't like EVERYTHING Gaga does/wears/produces and I don't have to (and before I receive thrashing comments about this sentence, let me just say that ARTPOP is my favorite album of hers and probably one of my favorite albums ever). To an extent, yes. This. I know that she is trying to recreate the rave experience with DJ WS, but honestly when he stopped playing mainstream EDM and switched to trap, I was instantly turned off.
