So true. And btw, until now, I cant say that her artistics really managed to make an impression in general.

 I like that she enjoys art so much and she should keep talking about it if that's what she wants but unless she goes full on Bjork on us maybe she should separate some artsy stuff from her pop music, like the name of her album :fan: hearing her talk about artsy stuff and then launching into a song called Sexxx Dreams is a bit anticlimactic. With a title such as ARTPOP I expect from songs like ARTPOP the track.

At the end of the day, it is what it is and nothing is gonna change that.

If you spend all your time sitting here obsessing over the charts,

you are missing the point of ARTPOP, to just relax and dance.

Go masturbate if you are so stressed out, honies.

Look at metacritic

Those are the critics. Metacritic is not really very reliable with music. With movies they are good and on point, but not with music. I discovered that with ARTPOP. They bassicaly didnt noted reviews from New York Times or Boston Globe. This is not right.

Do people think Madonna never had a unsuccessful album, or at least a album that

underwhelmed? MDNA sold mid 300K range and the album was terrible. Why?

Because that was her FANBASE purchasing it, one that she has built up over decades.

Do you think they cause World War ****ing III everytime something doesnt sell well? No.

They go, oh well, and go on about their lives.

I think MDNA is another example of people putting too much emphasis on first week sales

I mean, yes it sold 359k first week, but look what happened after that... Its overall sales haven't even reached 600k

I think she should not forget that she is a pop artist at first. That should always be first. Then put the something extra on top of this and it would be great.

This era has been eeriely similar to Unapologetic

1. A lead single that took a while to catch on, but later became a hit

2. An album that opened with mediocre first week sales

3. A slower duet with a male as a second single that (will hopefully) be huge

4. An album campaign that is geared towards steady sales and longevity

They are biased. ARTPOP is superior to PRISM, Bangerz and Unapologetic and Teenage Dream is superior to PRISM. It's just that they give a rating based on the music and with some artists like Gaga what they think of the artist, the album title, the interviews, what will get them more pageviews.

Whispering

I think that speaks more about Gaga and Katy's star power and not Katy's promo. Katy's first week sales were 50% better than Teenage Dream's which shows that the campaign was very effective. If ARTPOP had the same kind of promo that Prism did then it could be doing 400k easily.

Katy had a ton of high profile appearances during her release week while Gaga hasn't done anything major besides SNL and the artRAVE. Prism's promo campaign was about as perfect as it gets. That's why I wish Gaga had a team like Katy's. They know how to pick the best release dates and promo appearances. Gaga's team should be taking notes from Katy's.

Katy was still coming off of a flawless era, one with more #1 hits than anyone in the last decade.

That perfect promo campaign came up with 10-30K more in album sales in the US and we aren't sure how WW #s will end up yet. Thank God they picked the perfect release dates and perfect promo and she had a #1 smash with 225 million AI at the time of her release! Can you imagine what her debut number would have been like if they hadn't of had the perfect roll out? What if Katy would have had a debut single like Applause? One that radio adopted slowly, despite the fact that it was connecting with the listening public?

MDNA got the buzz because of the super bowl. THATS ALL.

MDNA has pulled an Invisible Man and disappeared off the face of the earth.
