If she keeps her touring power or even increases it, she's set for life and can release any albums or singles she wants just like Madonna. she is a pop artist. she cant really keep yet her touring power without hits. She went into her Prism debut week with a #1 single that had already sold 2x more than Applause has now and with 10 #1 BB top singles. Her last album ended up selling 10x what it started out with on it's debut week, which says she had momentum coming into this era. Katy didn't "disappear" between eras. She was everywhere doing promo and her team made sure that her single and her songs took over radio. ^^^ALL THIS and all she could come up with was 10-30K more than Gaga is predicted to sell. (at this point) When Gaga was in this same situation back in 2011, she and her team came up with a million debut week. Other than massive payola for radio play, Katy's team and label isn't looking any smarter than Gaga's at this time, as far as debut weeks go. A very smart post. And very true. If 440K of BTWs sales were the amazon deal, she would have had a huge debut anyway, but no where near that much. Even if she debuts at 250K, and has solid sales, it's not bad by Industry standards. Do you think this is acceptable?! I don't. It's unacceptable. Gaga should've either: 1. Released in 2014 - which would've been hard for her. But she would be able to get much more positive press (no comparisions with other pop stars, much better single sales, no Katy/Miley comparisions), she would've done much better promo for the lead single (fully restored hip), she eould've finished the album much better (well, she already did), she eould've released the app all at once, she would've been much fitter too. 2. Done actual promo for Applause outside of the US Let's just hope she'll take her time and go to all important music markets (for Gaga) over about 3 months early 2014. Just spend a week in each country and do loads of promo: South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, the US, Canada, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, the UK, Ireland, Sweden.
