If I have said it once I have said it a million times...Gaga knows her audience.

At Good Morning America, she performed that Wizard of Oz local theater production crap to impress the Mother's getting their kids ready for school. At the VMA's she did quick change after quick change to keep the attention of the ADHD riddled twitter generation. And for the Youtube Music Awards she performed the perfect song. She sang Dope. Look at the event and the other performers, she was the only pop star. It was a crowed geared toward indie rock and hip/hop. Had she gotten up there and done some choreographed pop star shtick they would have laughed her off the stage. She showed her chops to a room of street cred obsessed hipsters.

This. You nailed it.

you are a smart man. Also I disagree with the article in the first place because the cheering did not last all the way through. They shut up by the middle-end of the song and only cheered at appropriate parts where Gaga was pointing at them or something. I thought it added a layer of emotion.

It didn't ruin it for me. Who really gives a fvck where it took place or if the audience was cheering? It was such a powerful performance in any capacity.

I didn't even notice anything listening to the performance, so nope I don't think it's ruined it in any way.

The performance totally worked for me too. I loved that she dressed down for the big glamour event and that she did a slow, personal and deep song in the middle of all this superficialness
