I want to listen to this… but I want to hear it on the album first. So conflicted right now.

I agree! This was such a raw wonderful performance. Probably one of Gaga's best. Like, when Adele's voice cracked during the Brit awards when she performed "Someone Like You". That was one of the most epic performances of her life.

Right?

I can't find a clip of it, sadly, but there's a brilliant moment in the series premiere of Six Feet Under where a character recalls seeing a funeral in a rural part of Italy, where people would virtually scream and bang the coffin out of grief. He came to the resolution that things that are upsetting shouldn't be "sanitized" and "packaged" as a marketable product but instead should be felt on a human level.

He's absolutely right, and like many lessons from the show, I've taken it to heart ever since. That's why I much prefer Lady Gaga's voice quivering and her missing a note on the piano when she's banging it than if she sang it with no emotion at all and just copied how it sounded on the album sound for sound. Dope isn't a song to dance to or to see how great her dancing is with. It's a song that speaks volumes about being hurt in many ways, and even wishing death. Lady Gaga couldn't even hear her own song at the Berlin party without crying as a lot of people reported, let alone perform it again. This was breath taking to me.

Now I want her cap with that Dope on it

I've wanted it before I even knew it was I Wanna Be With You on downers :lmao: . Isn't it awesome?

Anybody expecting a huge epic costume for her most personal and vulnerable song... I don't know what to say without getting warning points.

That was a brilliant and real performance. Sometimes, the notes don't have to be played perfectly for the emotion of the song to be conveyed. We have the perfected version on the album. I'd rather see something real. This was real.

So true. I'm so glad she didn't have a big production for this song, it would have ruined it. This was by far the most painful and honest performance I'd ever seen her do; it's Gaga sharing what she hates about herself and asking for forgiveness through her tears

I didnt like that she cried, it looked forced, but vocally it was amazing.

Because Gaga's obviously incapable of anything genuine.
