Dann 354
I don't care about mainstream. As long as she keeps being an artist and make good music and stay true to herself, I'm here.
Hedi 3
Negatives: - No TV performances or high budget tours/performances - Music videos on a low budget You don't have to be mainstream pop to have grand succesful tours though, or music videos necesserily
Sugarfall 3,723
I would be here, but even if Gaga was like: ' I am pulling away a little from the big public'That still couldnt happen because paparazzi and her past hits would still be all over her. MikeyMoonShine 0
From the mainstream - would you be here for that? Considering most of us on here don't care charts or sales and neither does Gaga from the looks of things. If she's not mainstream it means: Positives: - She gets to make music she wants - Full control of her career Negatives: - No TV performances or high budget tours/performances - Music videos on a low budget This isn't true, the biggest touring artists are not always the one's at the top of the charts also you can go on tv without being huge. Most of my faves aren't mainstream but that doesn't mean they aren't able to release decent looking music video's.
Dunk96 2,526
She would never, no matter what she says. She always says how she loves show-biz. She wouldn't be Gaga without the flashing lights. Plus a lot of her fans wouldn't have access to her anymore.
Brooklyn Nights 163
I'm too lazy to write everything, but I'll just say whatever Gaga said in her fantastic SxSW keynote. this ^
monketsharona 83,015
Too early in her career to retire from mainstream or commercial things. She still has to prove her worth (even if as LM we all know she's talented)... BUT I feel like she retired from mainstream during ARTPOP era, I just hope she'll be back to show them all, she's not over...
Hedi 3
she would still do tv performances. non mainstream artists do tv performances all the time. gaga doesn't need a high budget. the fame ball was cool. the more money she has the more mediocre and less impressive her work often seems to me. the thing is, i'm pretty sure this is the music she wants to make. i don't think the quality of music would change. i think she really believes in this kind of music (which is unfortunate for me). Exactly And yeah.. I think the Monster Ball 1.0 was great, and that was mainly about background visuals and costumes than staging. And lol I'm curious what music of hers you were most into, you mean The Fame music?

aquaprincess 23
I almost want her to tbh because I feel like at this point the GP doesn't deserve her, if that makes sense. All I hear from them is shes too pretentious or tries too hard. And im over it. So they can have their bland basic music on the radio and gaga can do her thing on the indie side. Only thing is to your point, her performances and MVs would have to be done on a low budget. Her creativity merits a high budget. The monster ball, my favorite concert of all time cost a lot of money I'm sure so it would be hard to do something of that magnitude on a low budget. At the end of the day though I just want her to be happy and do what makes her happy whether that's continuing in showbiz or going underground or indie. VforVendetta 2,024
The music on both BTW AND ARTPOP is not the problem. Both BTW and ARTPOP era had serious problems and mistakes. The music in both albums is amazing and its not the problem, especially if we consider the standarts of the Public. The management and maybe Gaga herself did mane mistakes, BTE era survived because Gaga was very big back then but it didn't give its full potential and ARTPOP Era is is heavily damaged. Some of them are BTW ERA: The choice of the lead single and the Madonna comparisons The album of decade The release of Judas as a single before Easter The release on a Friday because of the leak The release of two promotional singles so close to the album The doubt about TEOG potebtial from and the wrong choice as a promo single The release of TEOG so close to the Judas that killed TEOG video The choice of a country song as a WW single The release of a 5th single after that mess that ended Gagas streak of top 10s. The waste of Americano as a single regardless of Puss In Butts (look at Happy) The d--gs Image mistakes The Tour so long after the album Etc ARTPOP The early release of Applause because of the leak The Katy comparisons The negative reviews and headlinesfrom irrelevant sites such as Examiner that weren't denied or judged early enough. The lack of promo WW for Applause The Critics The split with Manager The scrap of Venus for DWUW An R.kelly collabo as a single The DWUW video that never allowed the song enter top 10 and become the hit it could. No discounts when needed Expensive album Lack of Promo BlackOut In the middle of the era. Etc So don't blaim the albums all thr time cause it obvious that the problem was somewhere else. Gaga seems to have faced these problems now so lets hope for the best in the future.
