Disregard 50
I think all singles were choosen for a reason. Marry The Night flopped beacause its video was too long and not many people watched it, and by the moment she was everywhere. But it's one of her best, don't deny it. Buuuuut... Comparing them all, IMO LoveGame was the worst choice IMO, MTN flopped because it didn't really work for radio, same thing with Judas. People are not going to sing about being a warrior queen or washing his feet with their hair if he needs. People may say "well Applause didn't have relatable lyrics either" but it had something that those other two songs didn't in that it fit in sonically with what radio is used to playing. It fit in just on the right side of sounding generic and nonthreatening enough to be embraced by radio. LoveGame was a great choice. It may have been held off peaking higher by a few bigger tracks, but it is one of the most GP relatable songs she's ever released. The first three singles from The Fame were brilliant moves in drawing people in because every bit of them was something that the majority of people could connect with. holy scheisse 22,452
The matter of the fact is that you have 2 choices in this world: the safe and family-friendly pop star that will always sell more and never step on anybody's toes, ever OR the risky and brilliantly psychotic ARTPOPIst that will always face more negativity due to people not "getting" her artistry the choice is yours
giskardsb 12,565
define "Outlast". Gaga will be making music for as long as she wants to. Katy too. Any other definition of "outlast" is just a numbers game of some sort waged by people with agendas.
VforVendetta 2,024
Katy seems so much savvier than Gaga. While Gaga is busy playing the victim, whining about everything, and pointing fingers at everybody but herself on lm.com/twitter, Katy is scoring smash hit after smash hit. People kept dismissing Rihanna, but she has such a stellar singles collection full of quality pop hits now, that it's pretty much impossible to dismiss her now. Same will be with Katy after this era. Rihanna and Katy keep gaining respect while Gaga is steadily squandering the public's goodwill and respect I find it a shame considering Katy's live singing, but can't fault her for playing the game so well. Do you are implying that is easier to diminish Lady Gaga than Katy Perry? Lets not. The one is a music icon and the other is a pop singer. The matter of the fact is that you have 2 choices in this world: the safe and family-friendly pop star that will always sell more and never step on anybody's toes, ever OR the risky and brilliantly psychotic ARTPOPIst that will always face more negativity due to people not "getting" her artistry the choice is yours There's only 2 types of people in the world. The ones that entertain and the ones that observe. :lana:
Helix 1,487
There's only 2 types of people in the world. The ones that entertain and the ones that observe. In the center of the ring just like a Circus ~~~ Imo, Katy is always going to be around, but so is Gaga. While yes, Katy will probably be liked more often I doubt that Gaga will drop off the map or that people will just stop liking her. She has the more "relatable" stuff while Gaga has the good stuff that you can really really get into and enjoy. I see them both being here for a while. Stefani328 321
Katy Perry has everyone doing everything for her. It's like Britney Spears all over again. A pop star that has a good marketing team, producers that can give them hits, and don't write any of their songs. Most can't even sing. Katy pays it safe and as long as she does so, she will continue winning.

Antidote 95
To be really honest....DWUW. It's way too mainstream and normal. I know a lot of non-Gaga fans who instead of liking the song are disappointed with it because they expect something more special or weird from Gaga
