Wootan 0
It's just like you're all pressed because Katy is on the top, so you need to call her basic and mainstream I don't even listen to her music but please, don't blame other artists. Each artist gives something valuable to the world. Could easily been seen as a sign of maturity. Swearing (in many cases) is for adolescents and young males trying to prove they are big boys. This. Dunk96 2,526
Absolutely not. Katy is only popular with the general public because of her generic beats and simplistic lyrics that other people wrote for her.Not only that, but she's a terrible live singer. Gaga,on the other hand, writes all of her own songs and the lyrics are *mostly* deep and meaningful(not all of Gaga's songs),yet the general public crucifies her because she's weird, but yet she's outlasting many other celebrities(Justin Bieber anyone?)Plus Gaga sounds better live than in a studio recording, and I'm a first-hand witness to it. MonsterMum 2,532
I think the problem is very simple and obvious. People WANT to have an explanation of why she is not selling 1.1 mil in the opening week like before. Matter of fact is, we do not know how Gaga has treated this or how she handled behind the scenes. It's in our human nature that the gaps are filled in with our own imagination. And usually we always assume the worst (my friend has not called me back, is it something I said? He doesn't text me anymore, does that mean he doesn't like me now?) So with this said, since the numbers aren't that high and we do not fully know what's happening it's a flop in many eyes, that's the worst possible scenario as people in general like to label things. And then the sh!t really happens because the rest of us that also lacks information starts to follow up and copies that statement, look what the media is doing now? Snap out of it people, she's her own person that's developping, maturing, let her do it her own way, just like many of you (and even me in my 30s) still do. There is no need to put a label on her work or her behaviour, it is what it is. Or would you like to be labeled as your own person, put into a box and constantly need to be compared to your brother your cousin or whatever and if you do stuff different you're a flop? Comon now people, snap out of this.
XoXoJoanneGaga 629
im sorry but i kinda disagree with shane, as much as i like him. Sure, venus is a little messy here and there, but i think its still an amazingly produced song considering SHE produced it. I mean can you imagine if katy perry produced a song herself.... :pukey: It's not amazingly produced at all. It's very good for a first production, but it shouldn't have been released in that state especially if she wants it to be a single, it should have been cleaned up by a professional
Born To Slay 10,996
No, she won't. To last a long time you need a secure fanbase. Look at Brit vs. Christina, the GP bored of both but Britneys fanbase kept on top. And if she didnt get lazy she'd still be on top. Same with Gaga and Katy, Gaga has a fanbase to keep her successful even tho the much of the GP no longer likes her. Katy, well, does she have much of a fanbase? I don't come across many Katy Stans on Exhale compared to Gaga. If she can't get a big fanbase, when the GP bores of her, she'll fall.
bvtches 0
Seriously, she needs to act like the 20-something year old popstar she is and suck it up I'm tired of the facade of bull**** for lack of management and poor planning You have a team of multiple people and assistants to those team members Don't give that bull**** excuse three months down the road, there has been plenty of time to regroup It's simply a game now A game of her career /Unpopular opinion end rant
tokyodisko 0
This isn't something where only on one artist a decade is remembered. I don't think Gaga OR Katy are fading out anytime soon, if they ever do. It's just like you're all pressed because Katy is on the top, so you need to call her basic and mainstream I don't even listen to her music but please, don't blame other artists. Each artist gives something valuable to the world. Thiiiiiiiiiiis.

La Primavera 13
They submitted Applause and it's video, but it didn't get nominated. Why? It was such a good song and video, and it did very good on the radio. What happened, Grammys? I'm kinda bothered that Applause wasn't nominated for anything, and Roar (it even got nominated twice) and other stupid songs/videos got nominated. It's just... mess..... And she even isn't invited to perform! What do you think of this? EDIT: AND I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT ARTPOP (ALBUM), I'M TALKING ABOUT APPLAUSE
Zsolti 2,688
They submitted Applause and it's video, but it didn't get nominated. Why? It was such a good song and video, and it's Gaga's biggest radio single yet (even better than Bad Romance). What happened, Grammys? I'm kinda bothered that Applause wasn't nominated for anything, and Roar (it even got nominated twice) and other stupid songs/videos got nominated. It's just... mess..... And she even isn't invited to perform! What do you think of this? hun no Please correct me if I make any grammar mistakes, I want to master English as much as possible. drinkmytears 2,332
Gaga •Portrait in the Louvre •Equal single sales (slightly less) with lower chart positions •Significantly higher album sales •Has had 2 soldout tours (Katy's California Dreams tour didn't sellout very many concerts and the ticket prices were like $50. I'm not counting the Hello Katy or Fame Ball tours, but I'm pretty sure The Fame Ball did way way better) •Her 1 perfume is more successful than Katy's 3 •Has had an ad campaign with Versace, instead of PopChips •Owns 5 Grammys •Has performed with Elton John, Christina Aguilera, The Rolling Stones, Madonna, The Pet Shop Boys, Yoko Ono, and many many more I can't think of...oh Sting •Has a song with Beyoncé (slay) and iconic "I Believe I Can Fly" pedo R. Kelly •Is seen as a Gay icon and a huge force in repealing Don't Ask Don't Tell I could keep going but basically Katy is Target and Gaga is Nordstrom's

Zach Monster 0
It's because these Grammy judges have biased opinions, and I'm not just talking about Gaga.
