Why does Gaga have to do anything that's relatable, though?

The people who are her fans want to see/hear/feel her artistic vision.

But there is constructive criticism, song that are relatable and artistic at the same time are liked more than songs about yourself. That's why songs such as alejandro were hits, obvious personal but written in a way that you could replace the name alejandro with someone you felt the same about!

I'm not talking about Alejandro, I'm talking about what they're saying there. They have decently good points in the first few lines and after the deficit thing. The "yes people" thing is correct, because you don't want to surround yourself with people around you but saying things like the songs are "unstable" or "too s-xual" are not good criticism. Different people have different tastes and just because something is a little "risky" doesn't mean people won't like it.

Defecit of 25 mil? I stopped reading there :manicure:

Me too. Their facts aren't even correct- how can they be taken seriously? Maybe Gaga should be letting people in, but she wouldn't know that if she didn't take some time to try things all on her own too.

We should let her experiment with different ways of creating music. This era might not be the success so many people hyped it up to be, but she could be learning something more valuable than what any chart domination could have given her. The music is amazing, she's amazing. I'm here for an artist and music I like, not a product made to sit well with everyone.

Exactly! It's a very weird thing to say. When Gaga is "failing" commercially, suddenly she isn't listening to somebody who only comments on the situation after the "harm" has been done. It's just.. :toofloppy:

You said it. It bothers me when people who aren't in the room assume Gaga doesn't accept criticism just because of what other people who ALSO aren't in the room have said about her. It's a myth that's been treated like fact for months now.

Those comments which compare the situation to Cyndi vs. Madonna situation sound interesting but I don't believe this case needs to be the same.

Yes :kissga:

What Gaga didn't mention in that SNL skit was that while Beyoncé was empress of the world, Kety was Deputy Empress, so yes, she will outlast Gaga :laughga:

Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn

False things like the 25 Million deficit is absolutely ridiculous but I DO AGREE with the whole "I can do everything" issue. I love Gaga but she has to realize that she needs help, you have to take the constructive critic and ignore the others. As a monster, I want her to be happy, healthy but I also want her to feel good about her career, we all know she wants that no.1 on the US and to get there she needs the help from others (Songwriters, NEW PRODUCERS, Management help, etc..) :ohwell:

Oh please. If ARTPOP was the biggest pop album of the year, you would never have heard these doomsday lunatics talking about Gaga "not accepting help". The minute these vultures get a chance to make a comment to make themselves feel smarter than an artist and her circle of talented, smart and experienced people, they take it.

No one's said she's failing and no one's said ARTPOP was a flop!

Remember that critics are only good for telling people how THEY would write music, or how THEY think music should be made to be successful to THEIR standards.  The same with all of us when we critique.

A critique telling Gaga how to be more successful on pop radio is only useful to Gaga if she actually WANTS to be more successful on pop radio.  If Gaga wants to simply explore what she herself wants to make, then the only critiques that matter to Gaga are the ones that help her make what she wants.

People always assume they know Gaga's agenda, when it's pretty clear that Gaga follows her own.
