Celina 118
When did she say she was completely healed though? I remember the opposite - toward the beginning she always said she wasn't "fully rehabbed" at the start of the era. To be honest, I find the assumptions a little harsh at this point. Sure, she contradicts herself at times, but do you really think she'd make up a web of lies and fake suffering just to cover up the fact that the album didn't sell millions? It's pretty obvious from what she's been saying, firing her manager, etc. that something has upset her behind the scenes and potentially affected the output of her work, but that doesn't mean she wasn't ever excited about the era... I'm not saying you should believe everything that comes out of her mouth, and I'm not a sheep. I just think there are times when we should show some understanding, and this is one of them. She's clearly upset about whatever has happened and is trying to get things back on track.

Kermit the frog 1,921
Hm, interesting. You seem really suspicious of everything she says these days Kermit, has Gaga really ever lied about anything that's caused major issues? Idk I think her lying about being happy or not being insecure is sad, but it doesn't make me distrust her because she can't exactly be promoting her work whilst at the same time saying "I'm really not happy because of what's going on". The problem is that it's been like this since forever, she's been contradicting herself a lot during past 3 years. I miss the times when I would sit and watch lady gaga interview and admire how intelligent she is, without this creeping feeling of "well, she's probably lying again" or wondering what she tries to say and if she even makes sense. She let the media and her fans WAY too close. With TFM Gaga, her music and her videos were most important. With this album, I feel like her music is actually the least important thing, it's like this album is brushed under the carpet. This is the part where I have to agree with you. Just like I think she shouldn't tell us this much about what's happening behind the scenes, just as much I don't like how she makes it so apparent that she can't take much criticism. But cause it's her own problem and we can't really do anything about that, then I, for example, just choose to not let these things bother me that much. It did at first, of course, because I freaking love the woman and want all the best for her, but in reality there's really nothing we can do about how she is feeling or behaving, so I'm just waiting for her to get her self-confidence and F***You attitude back and be back in the game. I'm waiting too :(
No Angel 128
So don't you feel like you're being treated like an idiot? Sorry, I don't wanna sound offensive, but I certainly feel like being treated like a 12 years old child who can't see through her lies which she repeats constantly. She even lies about it in her songs. I'm annoyed and disappointed by that. I mean, firstly she's not my parent. She's a singer who I enjoy and buy music from. If she were my parent, then yeah maybe I would believe everything she says. But that's where it ends. I'm not buying anything else but her music. It's not like Gaga is not selling me an organ that I'll need to survive. I've learned from the past years not to listen to Gaga's explanation for her albums/music. I avoid all her interviews when she talks about her latest albums and I just sit down and listen to it and decide for myself, then I buy it if I like it. She tends to go off the rails when explaining a simple album. But that's her. I can't stop her from talking about Warholian experiences and such nonsense. But I understand why there's so many people who fall for what she says and get disappointed in the long run. She has many young and naïve fans so obviously they may rally up and believe everything they're promised.

She used the exact words that I quoted.
Didymus 34,380
I've noticed you become a bit more negative this era :reductive: I hope this time you'll get more "Why are you even here?" quotes, so I can get some rest I think she lied for the fans. I mean, what should she have said: "Here is my first music video. I don't really like it, since my management team ****ed me over and I doubt I'll ever make something that is my original vision until I fire half of them, but enjoy!" I would have had no problem with that, but she obviously wanted her fans to feel like this was the big comeback she needed (after the apparently "disastrous" Born This Way era) instead of another floppy era. Understandable, but honesty is always the better card in my opinion.
Remus 54
Not really the worst, but the song that made me feel "Meh" is Gypsy. It's a TEOG wannabe, basic production and the cheap "Toonniiiiggghhhhhhtttttt" hook is so cliche. Without the change in melodies in the second "I don't wanna be alone forever" and the outro, I would definitely skip this song whenever I play the album. Sorry not sorry, just an opinion. Rat Boy 43,595
A couple of years I went through a really tough time and absolutely hated life. When people asked me what was wrong I was like "I'm completely fine, never been better" etc. I lied because at the time I didn't want to burden anyone with my problems and I didn't want people to feel down or upset because of me. I really think the same things happening here with Gaga. She may want everything to appear okay because she doesn't want to trouble us or make us worried. Just my opinion. Tommy Monster 847
I find it really weird that she was all right and all OK in summer and now she is suddenly talking about deprssion because of people that betrayed her during her break??? it´s like, hey Gags, did you realize that just now??? doveve 526
But she did say in some radio interviews in September or October that she wasn't fully healed, and that she still feels "a little tight'' and ''felt pain during VMA performance'' and that "it's a long process of healing". So, she didn't lie. About happiness: maybe she was happy to be back, to be able to perform, to meet her fans, but was unhappy about management but she didn't tell about this during interviews, because it was a behind the scenes stuff. When she spoke about being in the best place in her life I believe that this was true if she spoke about her personal life. She is so happy with Taylor. I don't know. When she has so many interviews it's hard not to contradict yourself, because one day you may feel so positive and happy and just want to talk about positive things and so you say that you are healed enough, happy, in the right place, but other day you may feel irritated, sad, angry and may talk about thing that concern you, you start doubting. It also depends on the interviewer. Also, she was just coming back from a recovery with a new album and you expect her to say negative stuff? Of course she wanted to come back fresh and happy, but as the era evolved and was criticized she became more honest and open about things that were not so perfect. It's normal. Also, don't forget that she is a human-being hust like us and sometimes she says total crap.

Lying is a bad thing, lying about stupid things u didnt have to lie about in the first place is even worse, and pretendng ur not a liar when u show urself to be one also sucks. When u WANT to be and TELL people that ur the only person who fights for them and that u love them dearly and u try soooooooooooooooo hard for them and u show yourrself to be a LIAR it makes it difficult to call you a good person, it makes it difficult to want to support or be inspired by that person. I said there are some of the young and naïve ones in the fan base who believe whatever she throws at us. I don't know you well enough to make an opinion about you, let alone your age. mic 1,415
i thought when it came out omg how much more better can this album get but sadly its the best song and nothing could shock me more after aura As much as I love ARTPOP I must agree :( Aura set quite high standards for me and when I heard anticipated G.U.Y or Donatella I was extremely disappointed (these are still good songs tho, have grown on me). Thankfuly Venus keeps the good level too
