scrappy 302
I used to think TF was her worst album but then ARTPOP was released
Celina 118
Opinions. For me: BTW > ARTPOP > TFM >>>> TF, but I adore them all so tbh it means nothing if I ever say The Fame is her worst.
KrisFromMars 9
I think ARTPOP is is her worst TF was a good album the lyrics were very simple which is why it was so succesful and it definitely was a all around good pop album. i feel like AP is not her best but im not gonna say it was her worst. (couldve been better sorry thats the truth) I just feel like ARTPOP is missing something/ BTW is my fav album by her haters stay pressed. that album couldve slayed even harder if they picked the right singles. Matt 460
I think a lot of people put it last because it's the oldest. Every album is better than the last!
PatrickMonster 6,488
The Fame is one of the best album ever created... It was sensational and people seem to forget about that this album made (most of us) stan for her! It breaks my heart when I see nasty comments about how bad it is, and how full of fillers. Now guess what! This album had the biggest sales of her career so I don't think anyone should consider it "bad". You might say it's your least favourite, but don't say it's bad. I feel like some of you dislike it only because it's old now, and that it didn't have much serious themes. Please if you dont like it, just keep it to yourselves... TheHybrid 0
I wouldn't call it the worst, just my second least favorite. Born This Way, tbh, is my least favorite, I just don't like the majority of the songs on it so yeah haha
msquare91 1
Because it is? As the album progresses it loses all of its momentum. It's a great album; the track list is just bad. It opens with the 4 major songs and then slopes down. The quality of some of the songs don't compare to her later work either. The album was obviously her way to get her foot in the door so she could do the type of music that she REALLY likes. It's true that the major singles are all the first songs, as is the trend with some of the more generic pop albums, but at the same time, my favorite songs from the album are Starstruck, Disco Heaven, and Summerboy, which are all way later on. Maybe they're not everybody's cup of tea, though. I remember her saying that she made this album as a stepping stone to The Fame Monster, which is the album she really wanted to make. But I interpret that as more artist-talk from Gaga than anything else...she always says her most recent album is her best ever, because that's just the particular musical mood she's in at the time. And although the songs aren't necessarily her best songs, they are her best pop songs. Does that make sense? There's just this lowest common denominator appeal to the music, because they're such simple melodies, and I feel a lot of her later work, especially ARTPOP, just gets too convoluted. And even though it's simple music, the message is complex.
Wootan 0
I feel like people forgot how TF was different from the other pop albums back in 2008 tbh. It wasn't that different but it truly changed the pop music : Gaga created new rules about outfits, performances, music videos, etc... I admit there is a lack of "hook" sometimes when I listen to the album, but it's still pretty strong. Tho, if you think that TF is her least good era, I recommend you to watch some performances again (not those we all know). There is something really magical about TF that I can't find in her last eras. Here is a really short overview of this amazing thing that TF was : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10SgYZ7IE8w http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kzy91KWiNs

And even though it's simple music, the message is complex. I know what you mean with the pop song thing. I think that GaGa made The Fame knowing exactly where she wanted to go with her career. She'd already been dropped by Def Jam, so she had to make her music more marketable in order to make a name for herself. It is a great album and her personal touch is definitely there, but I think it wasn't the kind of music she wanted to make her whole career and she knew she had more potential than that. Little Fighter 1,222
I know what you mean. TFM and BTW's lyrics are more...poetic, maybe? But less wordplay than TF. I'm one of those really nerdy literature people who crack up at puns and wordplay, so I just love the wordplay from the album so much. I wish she would do it more. But I do also think that TF's lyrics are less sappy and more edgy. They just get to the point concisely, and I like that. Exactly, there's nothing wrong with a word play, like I said, it's one of the things that drew me to Gaga, but, I appreciate meaningful lyrics over fun/clever lyrics. I'd rather hear someone pour their heart out in a song than to have some fun dance song. I do appreciate a good fun song though! <3 Little Fighter = Gaga & Xtina stan <
tristessa 0
I guess because of the more formulaic pop structure/sound it's seen as a "generic" by many in comparison to how she's evolved in her later albums, and I guess they have a point there, but I think that's a strength in that it was meant to be an enjoyable, accessible album (pop in a nutshell, right?) and achieved exactly that while still being injected with Gaga's personality, and while I don't relate to the music itself, its overall concept is really what drew me to it. But of course it's also just a matter of taste.
aaronyoji 2,054
maybe because it is? lol. to be fair, it serves its purpose as a strong pop album, it has all the quintessential elements, the right songs at the right time, but the actual content is so subpar. thats kinda why it did so well, it was from this new exciting artist but the music was poorly written enough for people to like. it has its moments, and i like a lot of the melodies, but the musicality of it (thats a real word) is so contrived and staccato. her pronunciation is ghastly, her vocals where quite weak, not even compared to her newer work but just in general, and then add some autotune and raspy lyrics about clubbing and it just makes you cringe lol. and what people perceive to be her biggest hit from that era, pokerface, is actually not that great. its so monotonous and repetitive and legit only has 1 actual melody, the chorus, which in itself just repeats alot. in terms of theme, i do think its interesting, and sees itself in songs like paparazzi, and the fame, paper gangsta. but this is her first album, its her baby steps, and her abilities have proven far far beyond the fame. in comparison it seems a little amateur. i friend of mine, who does like gaga a lot, says it sounds like a pop album written by someone who doesnt know how to write music. Lassex 1,169
shame on you really wtf even her "stefani" songs had deep meanings like "Hollywood" Just Dance and Beautiful Dirty Rich are about partying, Love Game, Poker Face and I Like It Rough are about s-x. Most of the songs don't have a serious meaning. Anyway, I never said there's anything wrong with The Fame.
Wootan 0
her vocals where quite weak Personally I prefer her vocals during TF http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oP8SrlbpJ5A She used to perform just with her voice. With ARTPOP it's really hard to hear her voice, I usually hear the track + the recorded vocals and that's it
