Which songs were seriously thought to be next singles?

Edit: These are not my preferences, that's what could've happened. But you can talk about your preferences if you'd like :)

Please correct me if I'm wrong (some parts are subjective though)

Boys Boys Boys - I heard that they were going to shoot a video for the song, and it was planned as the 6th single

Dance in the Dark - Was going to be the next single after Telephone, but Gaga insisted on Alejandro

Heavy Metal Lover

Scheisse - was planned to be the 6th single from BTW, but the era had to be cut short

Venus - Was changed to DWUW, but here it comes!

Aura - This is my speculation. I think it was supposed to be the first single, not Applause, which Gaga admitted was a rushed and new single choice. I also speculate it will be a single and the continuation of Paparazzi/Telephone sequel, because of the clear connection to ARTPOP and these lyrics: "I killed my former and left her in the trunk on Highway 10. Put the knife under the hood. If you find it, send it straight to Hollywood" Nothing rings?

omg how do u know

oh look when you werent looking my motorcycle turned into a piano

I think ARTPOP matches her vision actually for what she wanted to do this album.

I think BTW is "slightly" better but ARTPOP is really close for me.

I agree

It is her most enjoyable album

I mean TFM and BTW were great too, but TFM had only 8 songs and BTW was kind of tiring to listen to as a whole. But I listen to ARTPOP every single day and I can't get tired of it. It's so much fun, the melodies, the music, the lyrics

Fashion! is amazing btw

I don't get why people say it would flop. I've listen to Venus with people who we would consider "the GP" and they love it, the "VENUS!" parts always get to them and they are always dancing around to it. It's a new, fresh and different song another like it is on the radio. I think its what the GP NEED right now to get away from this soulless, dance-less pop music and bring us music that makes us feel happy and wanna get up on our feet and dance. It is one of those songs that people will either hate or love there is no in between :rip:

I don't know, i think it could do good IF EVERYTHING IS ORGANIZED AND PLANNED ACCORDINGLY.

But it is a weird song, so who knows :p

Pretty sure a lot of people feel that it's too weird and not radio friendly enough to be a single, but personally that's why I like the idea  of it being a single.

Risks > playing it safe.

but it's NOT to weird... at all. And VERY radio friendly. I think people are thinking about the song to much. It's just as radio friendly as We Can't Stop which to me sounds just as "weird" as Venus.

My beef with Venus is the verses and the bridge... which is like 50% of the song. wtf is she even saying in the verses? They say nothing. The bridge is pretty much the same. Like, yeah, thanks for calling out the planets for us, Lady Gaga. Riveting. And I know I'm not the only one who thinks this. I don't even think the hooks are good enough to make up for that. lol

On the other hand, idk... I like Venus... but it's a stan-acquired taste.

Like what so many people said upon ARTPOP's release... "If you're a Lady Gaga fan, you'll enjoy it. If you're not, well it's the same Lady Gaga we've been getting for the past 5 years." In my opinion, Venus is the biggest representation of that sentiment.

It is a little bit weird. The verses in particular are quite out there. But I agree, it has a lot more commercial potential than some people give it credit for.

I don't hate the idea of this song as a single, I'm with it. The song is totally Gaga, this song and Mary Jane Holland......the first introduced sort of " Gaga".

The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

This song is weird, but it is weird in the endearingly Gaga way that made people love Bad Romance. That's why I think it's a potential hit. She needs a high profile performance and a really good music video and it could be a Top 10 hit for sure. I love "GUY" and "Gypsy", I think both are great songs, but neither are quite as "Gaga" as Venus, or for that matter, Aura, the other song I think she should potentially put out next.

I honestly think Gaga has a higher chance of getting a hit and winning over the "GP" as you guys always love to talk about, if she releases a "risky" song as opposed to a safe song.

It is a Marmite song - love or hate.

If you don't like camp club-disco you are unlikely to warm to it quickly.

I happen to LOVE it, and I listen to it incessantly. Anything that gets us a proper video for it is okay by me. Sure, I'd be concerned about commercial performance, but tbh I am done with that. Gaga needs to be freed from the shackles of commercial success.
