I think fans are concerned since Venus was the 2nd single and then it wasn't so on it sounds "messy" to then go back to Venus. Personally I'm here for anything though, if Venus is the 3rd single, I'm here for it. If it's something else I'm here for that.

Yeah.....maybe people have been underwhelmed in the GP bc they expect weird Gaga and she HAS played it safe this era. I'm here for "Venus". Its pretty weird. But its also catchy.

"Paparazzi" and "Bad Romance" have weird ass lines too.

"We are the crowd, and we're c-coming out/Garage Glamourous/ Velvet Ropes and Guitars/In between the sets, eyeliner and cigarettes"

"I want your ugly, I want your desire, cuz ur a criminal as long as your mine/ I want your pyscho, your vertigo schtick, while you're in my rear window baby you're sick"

I don't think "Aphrodite lady seashell bikini/Aphrodishi" is really that weird lol

Well, to be honest, I like the song fair enough. It's not bad. However, some seem to think it's the new Bad Romance or something and I completely disagree. I think there's distinctions that can be made when it comes to risks sometimes - BR was seen as a risk by some, but it paid off amazingly because it was a great song and I think it was actually genuinely something novel at the time (plus that was back when she could do no wrong). Something like, I don't know, J&D would also be a risk, but almost no one is saying it should be a single, because it's either disliked or just not strong enough to be one. Venus is not a bad song, and I once preferred it as a single over DWUW - but I don't think it's necessarily as groundbreaking as some may think, nor do I think it's risky for the right reasons. The lyrics are incredibly cheesy (no offense truly, I know that was intentional, but they're some of the weakest on there imo) and while it has a sound that may have been fresh a few years ago, I doubt it would have the same effect now. Just because it's risky doesn't necessarily give her more integrity as an artist by choosing it or something. And chart-wise I've no idea how it'd do, but there are still other strong songs on the album, perhaps stronger.

All that being said, thematically I think it embodies the album quite a lot, and all in all I think it's a fun song. I'm open to being proven wrong.

La Primavera

It is one of those songs that people will either hate or love there is no in between :rip:

I don't know, i think it could do good IF EVERYTHING IS ORGANIZED AND PLANNED ACCORDINGLY.

But it is a weird song, so who knows :p

It's time take risks. Many fans say that she needs radio friendly smash. Ok, we had Applause, we had DWUW and none of them really smashed the world. The only way Gaga can rock the world is to show her original and controversial side. That's her trademark, she can't be anyone, that's why I dislike 'I'm every icon ' idea, no Gaga ur yourself, Born This Way remember?

People compare Venus to Bad Romance because they are both very different from the stuff a lot of other artists put out. They are both growers and both sound very fresh and different. Bad Romance became a novel after its amazing video. I still remember no one liked it when it came out but it grew on a lot people. I think it debuted at #12? and then plummeted for a few weeks. My point is not that Venus will smash like Bad Romance but that it will get an amazing video just like it. Amazing performances too. I wish people would stop comparing a past hit to her current songs on ARTPOP. a hit becomes a hit for various reasons and there's no point in comparing song structures and things like that.

Been Venus-bound from the very first time I listened to the song. Catchy, different, sound-evolving... Lyrics are much smarter than what most people think: different layers regarding mythological love as well as pure s-x allegory. The song goes straight to your brain! It MUST be the third single so as to make the era cohesive as it was initially planned.

O rly :ohwell:

No though, I see what you mean in your other post but I disagree with some of it. BR as a song as well as video was actually ridiculous and unlike anything you'd have heard at the time, which obviously paid off. While you could make the argument that Venus would be similar in that respect, I think it's still kind of a loose comparison to make in just the sense that they're both kind of "weird", and like I said before when it comes to the type of "risk" we're talking about.

I think it's a good point you and others make about the lyrics too - I feel like the lyrics of Venus are attempting to be in the same vein as a Poker Face or Bad Romance but don't achieve quite the same effect, nor do I think they will necessarily strike the same chord for the GP. But again, these are all just opinions. I still like the song and I'm open to it possibly being a single if that's what she chooses, but there are other perhaps better choices she could make at this point.

Wet Fire

I think people would like 'unique/weird/different' songs from Gaga. Venus might just be that. I love Venus.
