KingAlanI 3
Borrow someone else's (which i kinda did with the local library system). if people borrow something you borrowed, that's an even bigger problem than them borrowing your own stuff. read them quickly (I sure did). hide them. and more Hunger Games puns: anyhow, interesting blog about the series' themes: http://www.thecolors...0%99s-advocate/ My response: totally agree that it transcends being a young girl thing while still being good at that. That's one of Collins' feats of characterization. The comments about violence and Capitol decadence compared to the districts can be pointed and hard-hitting. I do have mixed reactions to the not-particularly-evil Capitol citizens. I don't think that portraying violence necessarily glorifies it. The movie doesn't play it up, and a lot of the books talk about the mental hell the characters go through. Edited April 4, 2012 by KingAlanI
Pookie 5
Pookie, how old are you? If 24 or less, it's not creepy. (your age divided by 2 then plus 7) I'm 25 next month :ninja: Going to see the film again on Friday
KingAlanI 3
I'm 25 next month :ninja: Going to see the film again on Friday so you're not 25 yet. I'm not inclined to see the film again so soon though. Also, ideas for the Hunger Games fanfic I'm working on: In Catching Fire, Katniss asks what if Gale volunteered for Rory, leaving her to watch Gale pretend to be in love with someone else. I’ll write a version of this without a love triangle. I wouldn’t change anything that happened before the District 12 reaping. The District 12 female would be a new character, a sympathetic young girl like Rue. (instead of the overkill of two volunteering older siblings) Gale would have to draw the Capitol’s ire somehow. The conditions in District 12, not to mention the Games in general and 12-year-old tributes in particular, provide plenty to complain about. Gale would also have to do something to garner sympathy. I figure that without the love interest, the volunteerism will come to the forefront. Maybe he’d be pining for Katniss, at least publicly. As another resident of District 12, he would also know the funeral salute. Tidbits While at a pre-Games feast in the Capitol, Gale will end up with a pile of food that is essentially a Garbage Plate. When Gale returns from the Games, Katniss will sing for him, a parody of Pete St. John’s _Fields of AthenryÂ_ presented as a Katniss original (so far, Katniss has just sung other peoples’ songs) The District 12 female will have a name usually spelled with an R, an allusion to Peter->Peeta ‘The Gale-antee’: Gale states unequivocally that someone from the underestimated District 12 will win.
