Married the Night 3,955
I think that the only part of the acting that I didn't like was when Peeta was yelling at the camera to tell Katniss to move after the tracker jacker attack. Idk why, but I thought it was all a bit forced Also, strangely enough, I don't think the movie portrayed Peeta's backstory of being a baker well enough. There's so many jokes around the interwebz about him and his bread, but the movie only mentioned it like...once, which was during the flashbacks to him giving Katniss the bread. I had read the book so long about that I had forgotten the bread story totally. And the movie made sense to me. There were 3 scenes with the Peeta/Bread flashback. And then when he was in the cave, he told her how he should have taken the bread to her and handed it to her. No just toss it on the ground. I think it made sense. Perhaps they could have stressed how the names get added to the bowl more to explain why she as hungry in the first place? idk Edited March 28, 2012 by Married the Night

That was one part when I was reading the book that I said to myself "Well ****, they'll never be able to describe this in a movie!" Although it did seem kinda like a cop-out to have Katniss find water on the first day in the arena...but it seemed like they made up for that later when Katniss was in the trees. She looked more deprived in those scenes. Yeah they also never explained in depth about how the victor's district gets a lot of awesome **** for a year. And that becomes an important plot point in Catching Fire...

It will take away from the film. :)
sal 0
LOVED it! Just some storylines weren't told (precisely) I loved the epic return of Isabelle Fuhrman as clove
KingAlanI 3
I thought it was close to perfect. I am dying to see it again. Even if I like a movie, I don't feel the need to see it again at least for awhile. I think they left out Rue's district giving her bread was cut because it would confuse the audience. Too many loafs of bread being given away. Yeah, in Catching Fire, all sorts of sponsors were flinging bread around. I assume the 1st book was similar in this respect, then. Cinna wasn't gay enough I thought it was good that a male stylist wasn't played as an effeminate gay stereotype is this a case of just being different from the book? When I read Catching Fire, I noticed Flavius (the only male on the prep team) had some of that going on. Other than that, I think we have witnessed the next big thing. Looking forward to the other 2 films. This. Catching Fire may be the first time I camp out for a movie premiere. Birdy KILLS it in her Hunger Games song. I wish some of these songs were actually in the movie instead of an instrumental-only score.

I would have DIED to have some actual songs in the film. The Birdy song would have been perfect! Edited March 28, 2012 by Married the Night
KingAlanI 3
Yeah, we only got a couple of those songs during the credits (I watched the whole credits, hoping there was a post-credits scene but there wasn't :() I did want to make clear which parts I was replying to and how, so I ended up with a lot of miniquotes instead of one quote of your entire post PS I just knew there was going to be a twist at the end of the Hunger Games in Catching Fire. I didn't predict the specifics and thought it was pulled off well - ending Catching Fore well while still being a cliffhanger segue into Mockingjay. Spoiler alert: Lightning is redirected into the force field. The new gamemaker is a secret rebel who rescues Katniss and most of the other surviving tributes. Gale and some other non-tribute evacuees are also on board. http://thehungergames.wikia.com looks like fun Edited March 28, 2012 by KingAlanI

KingAlanI 3
I thought it was interesting how Haymitch was such an effective strategist despite being a raging alcoholic. He gets cut off as he's about to train with Katniss and Peeta for the 75th Hunger Games. That sobriety breaks when he gets ahold of some wine on the train. Catching Fire also reveals that he's not effective at keeping house though.

Parka 1
that's insane It really is! Especially considering the three movies ahead of it were all summer releases, which would give it a better chance to have high grosses on weekdays. But not for THG! It's unheard of to have such high weekday grosses in non-summer months and non-holidays :legend: :legend: :legend:
