:omg: Boxofficemojo says the HG made 155 million so far domestically :omg::deadbanana:

(Reuters) - The highly anticipated drama "The Hunger Games" opened with a massive $155 million in estimated U.S. and Canadian weekend ticket sales -- the third highest domestic opening in history, distributor Lions Gate Entertainment said on Sunday.

The opening for the film, which is about an oppressive society's teen death match, ranked behind only the "Harry Potter" finale and Batman movie "The Dark Knight," Lions Gate said.

Currently bidding on this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hunger-Games-Official-Katniss-Mockingjay-Metal-Prop-Replica-Pin-By-NECA-/280851103182?pt=UK_DVD_Film_TV_Film_Memorabilia_LE&hash=item416407bdce#ht_500wt_1219

But there's loads on there with that exact packaging so I'm wondering where they're originally from? Anyone?

:legend: :legend: :legend:

It is the best opening weekend EVER for a non-sequel :legend: :legend: :legend:

It has the second highest Saturday gross, just a small $300,000 behind Spider-Man 3 :legend:

It has snatched Alice in Wonderland's record of highest grossing March opening weekend :legend:

SO MANY WEAVES ARE GONNA BE SNATCHED BY THIS MOVIE :legend: :legend: :legend: :legend: :legend:

It'll be really interesting to see how it plays next week. Solid predictions set the opening weekend to be at $135 million, but it smashed through that by adding an extra $20 million. Surely that will only advance the movie's success. Next week, "Mirror Mirror" and "Wrath of the Titans" are the only new releases, and will probably be met with bad reviews..So THG will probably be #1 again next week :legend:

It actually broke a ****ton of records  Mostly the non-sequel records...which is amazing, since the sequels will probably slay even more records :legend:

I know  I was saying that even if it didn't break any records, those numbers alone are a massive accomplishment.

I can't even imagine the sequels :jawdrop:

Oh, and overseas, THG made an estimated $59.25 million...which seems a bit small imo, since it opened in many major markets.

Either way, the movie has grossed a total of $214,250,000 worldwide in its opening weekend :legend: :legend: :legend: :legend: :legend: :legend: :legend: :legend:

Also, the movie is already the highest grossing movie for its distributor, Lionsgate. Previously, "Fahrenheit 9/11" was its top grosser with an overall sum of $119 million. Note that for overseas markets, Lionsgate sold its distributor rights to other foreign distributors in order to cut potential losses. The studio is not large at all, and they probably didn't have the budget at the time to distribute the film worldwide. Unfortunately this was kinda a mistake, since the film is such a big hit. Oh well!

I can't believe I haven't been on this ****ing thread!!!!!! OMG!

It

was phenomenal. The best book to movie adaptation I've ever seen. Brilliant directing, immersive cinematography, everything was just AHHHH!!! Any cuts that were made or changed were necessary and fit perfectly. Overall, definitely an all time favorite. Now I have extremely high hopes for Catching Fire and Mockingjay.
