I wish Collins would give us better characterizations of all of the tributes, I think it would make the experience of thr Games much better I know, the only tributes you really get to know are the main ones. The way I see that: With first-person narration (at least the way Collins does it), there's less detail on the setting and secondary characters. The ending was amazing, everything just exploded and so many things happened in so little time! Mockingjay is great too, people have mixed feeling about it but I loved it. I should have just skipped to the last two chapters, it would have been a better experience then reading the whole thing. Prim dying was so predictable as soon as Collins started saying she was a good medic. Katniss and Gale magically not being friends anymore is way too contrived, first two books they are basically in love and he is taking care of her entire family, but the last chapter of the third one it's "oh my plan was used without my knowledge by a sadistic leader to kill children and your sistr was caught in it, peace". It was a cheap way of just getting him out of the picture so that Katniss would be with Peeta. Don't understand how Gale would just desert her, he would want to prove he had nothing to do with it. The whole part of the unit moving through the Capitol was badly written, I had no idea what was going on and could not picture anything because she badly described it. People are dying left and right and I have no idea why or how. And Katniss voting yes to a Capitol-children Hunger Games is so unlike her, I don't understand how Collins could say that she would want to see that. But hey, it's her character I guess... I saw it as "Once Katniss settled on Peeta, she made a point of brushing off Gale." I was confused by the later action scenes, but I thought that was somewhat appropriate to the chaos. I can see how it seems like a problem with Collins' writing though. I'm working on a fanfic and I was already keeping that in mind for when I get to that part of the story.
