Note that all the films above THG for this record were released during the summer or the 6th day fell on a holiday. She's normal, at least by Hollywood standards. Is the characters' race a point or a coincidence? District 11 _is_ poor, Southern, agricultural and black. I noticed Cinna's non-flamboyance more than his race. I can imagine readers overlooking a small section of the book, especially if it's _convenient_ for them to do so. The Twilight comparisons have all but dropped, but nobody has started to compare it to Harry Potter yet...except me! Harry Potter has had 8 films, with the last being in 3D. And the the majority were released in the summer or during a holiday season..Yet, The Hunger Games has had a better opening weekend than all but the last HP movie, even though THG was released on a non-holiday weekend in March. And the HP movie made only about $17 million more on its opening weekend...yet a large chunk of that comes from 3D surcharges. Most websites don't really count ticket sales, since it's impossible. They try to do the whole "adjusted" charts, but those still count the 3D surcharges. So it'd be impossible to see which movie actually sold more tickets- The Hunger Games, or Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Pt. 2. My opinion? I think The Hunger Games sold more. I mean, look at how HUGE this release was..and it was done without 3D! Surely more than $17 million of Harry Potter's gross came from 3D. The first part only grossed $125 million, without 3D. You'd expect both Part 1 and Part 2 to have a bit closer of opening weekends..wouldn't you? Although it may be impossible to tell which had more in attendance, it still is just simply astounding the The Hunger Games, being the FIRST film in a trilogy, was so close to topping the gross of a 3D movie that was the final movie in an series of eight movies released in the summer.
