8bitheart 0
You do not know how the art world works. This is a print by Jeff Koons. Many artists work solely in prints and make limited editions like this all the time. There is significant money in prints. This is a larger edition than many, but it is also by a very big name artist. Now it will not be anywhere close to a million; however, I am certain this will only appreciate in value over time. Gaga is an artist that will go down in history even if she stops making music after ARTPOP (Judas forbid). So even considering THAT it will go up, but to account for Jeff Koons involvement will add considerably. I would guess in 50 years it could be around $1,000. Considering we pay around $15 now that's a major increase in a relatively short period of time. Ok, by that logic, explain to me why all the standard non-foil editions aren't being touted as being worth something? They are also after all, PRINTS of Jeff Koons work? Why does adding foil make them any different? As I said, unless Jeff & Gaga physically foiled the covers themselves, I fail to see what they are worth money and the 'standard' printed covers aren't? You said yourself many artists work in print, including Jeff Koons..

You said yourself many artists work in print, including Jeff Koons.. Because there will be substantially more of them. And they will be reprinted. Jeff Koons helped design a special version to include foil and it has a limited run. These are what allows it to appreciate in value.

DeleteMyAccount 11,881
So does this mean we should keep the limited cover sealed and kept safe? And then go buy a normal CD package to open and listen to? I see what they did there. Getting those first week sales.. haha. jk, but I think I might get mine sealed now.

Nathan James 7
Imagine it in a 100 years. Or 200. Or 500. Not just this album and this edition, but physical CDs themselves. They may be something of a treasure eventually, with each average, non-special edition releases alone being quite special, so just imagine limited edition ones like this. humanfly 42
I am hoping that if I go buy it on the day it comes out in the us it will be foil. We shall see. I was hoping for a limited vinyl release like born this way box set. Now that I believe will be valuable. Although they can sell it when I die cause I wouldn't ever part with it. LibraLove 1,279
My goodness. Some of the logic in here. Have some of you never heard of the limited edition holographic Pokémon cards? They're cheap pieces of paper, but highly collectible and some even are worth bags of money. And those are mass produced and never hand touched by the initial designer(s).
