I think that if she ordered the singles BTW, TEOG, Y&I, and Hair, it would have done great. I think that Judas pulled her down on the radio a lot, so she would have had a lot of forward momentum anyways. plus it has a TEOG type of feel, which people loved.

Agreed. I've actually always felt that this should have been the order.  The only thing that would have made this better is if she released "Scheibe" after Hair. I still think it would have been a huge radio hit. And even if it wasn't, we could say she tried.

#13 Britney Spears - Perfume

After Femme Fatale I was looking forward to this album :awkney:

This song is so horrible it's ridiculous

I really don't understand how even Wrecking Ball could hit 100M AI, but Applause couldn't. Like what was holding Applause from hitting that high? It was a HUGE pop hit. Was it all those small midwestern conservative pop stations that didn't even bother to pick it up? Because clearly the big stations were here for it

I live in the Midwest and pop radio isn't really conservative. That's a stereotype that others have about us that really isn't true. I'm not saying there aren't conservative aspects in the Midwest, pop radio just isn't one of them.

With that said, my local radio station did t play Applause a lot after its initial debut. But I think that's because they were playing Roar, which is something that held the song back. If you were a PD and had a slot for 1 pop song to capture a teenage girl/ soccer mom audience, would you play roar or applause?

Now that roar is declining, though, they are playing applause a lot more. Its definitely peaking right now around here.

Oh, Hair.  I remember when Hair was about to be released as promo, I put on facebook "I wonder what Hair sounds like?" and someone said "it's very quiet don't you listen to it next to your ear?"

And then I found a dollar.

Wait, what? lol

I'm in midwest too (Michigan) and the Detroit radio stations played Applause A TON from the getgo, while stations in mid- and upper-Michigan hardly played it at all. Of course, they don't have much audience to add to the pot, but all those little stations certainly do add up, and they could be what kept Applause from getting that additional 20M AI.

Miley would never put Brit on the album if she didnt intend for it to be a single

True, but Britney adds like nothing to that track  :dies: It's literally one of the worst collabs I've ever heard. It's pointless. And Miley was all ****ing excited about it, but the song really sucks. Bad.

I heard the Troy Carter break-up rumour from Gaga haters several months ago.

It will eventually be true - just like after years of fake "Beyonce pregnant" stories she had a baby.

I'm midwest too and my station trashes Gaga all the time. DJs hate her, there is station bias against her, etc. It's really bad. When Applause hit 100m AI's they dropped it to #30 on their playlist. :wtf:

Without You (David Guetta + Usher) was played more than Applause on a daily basis. :wtf:

Oh Haha I didn't know where you lived. I just assumed you were some New Yorker that was completely oblivious that there is electricity and an internet connection in Nebraska. People outside the Midwest assume we are like 1800s farmers without paved roads and technology for some reason.

I agree, the song is so bad I cant even :deadbanana:

But Miley probably thought that the name Britney alone would make the song smash. If she only knew Work B*tch would flop that hard :rip:
