singles are meant to sell albums! and that's what shes doing! :D

guys we are so lucky! we are gonna get more videos more single! YAAAAAAAAAAAAS

Yes, but shouldn't the main album promo singles  1 ans 2) be representative of the album?

You don't sell an album by appealing to people who would dislike most of it, and alienating those who would buy it?

(I'm thinking also of Kylie being forced to have an R&B single to promote X in US, rather than one of the 3 UK top 10 hits from it. Neither her fans nor the public liked it)

All I can say is that different iterations of Do What U Want have been WW trending for the past 2 days constantly and it's #1 in a ton of countries - I THINK SHE MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE.

It's not that I don't like DWUW.  I do. A lot.  I've listened to it on repeat since it came out. I just don't like the rushed/unplanned switch to an official single when they already had an official single chosen and ready.  It's just messy.

its messy to her fans, but the GP have no clue and will easily embrace it as the next single without even knowing anything about venus

Reminds me of Rolling Stone calling You and I one of greatest Gaga songs, and Scheisse one of the worst.

It's more traditional (American music) and appeals to more adults. Yes, Yuyi made #6 US.

But it didn't set the world on fire.

"You and I" will be one of Gaga's most remembered songs. It crosses over genres and appeals to a wide range of people. It might not be the biggest radio hit, but it's a legendary song.  "Sheibe" could have done great on the radio, but I don't think it would or will be remembered as one of her best songs overall. "You and I" is a classic and will be sung in karaoke bars when our grandchildren are old enough to go out.

Well fingers crossed you are right and I'm wrong. lol.

But it's also not your problem. You aren't the guy or gal promoting the single. You're a fan. These things aren't supposed to worry you.

Do you think the general public will see this as a mess? No. They wont. They didn't know Venus was planned to be released as the second single. At this point, they don't even know what Venus is. They will, however, devour DWUW. That's all they care about.
