HarryTheNight 35
I agree that it is a safe choice because of the change today. But I don't agree on the second part. Why would Gaga put a song like this on ARTPOP if she knew it did not portray the message of the album? If it portrays the message as an album track, it does as a single too. That's funny because it actually sounds like a perfectly balanced studio production. Probably one of Gaga's (DJWS) greatest productions ever. You think? when i listen to Applause and then DWYW it just sounds like the vocals are grainy or not clear enough or something in comparison, maybe its just the rnb vibe or whatever
mykel55 0
Hey, I remember Gaga saying during an interview that she was open to the idea of releasing two singles at once, similar to what Beyonce did with "if I were a boy" and "sweet dreams" which were both majorly successful. Think she'll do that with Venus and dwuw?? This. Watch. Next week when Venus tops the charts like DWUW shell announce them both as the second single. Celina 118
i guess it could serve its purpose with the message, about the media, and addressing that the public doesnt own her, but i still group it with the rest of the complacent songs ARTPOP seems to be rittled with; g.u.y being the most pointless, Jewels N' Drugs, MANiCURE, which i love to death, but it does nothing for the cause of ARTPOP, fashion will probably just be another flip of the coin to donatella, like, really, she couldn't fit those two into one song?? gypsy is about loving someone, etc etc etc So do you think the songs you listed can't be artistic just because of the subject matter? Just curious, not trying to attack you or anything. Also, I don't think Fashion and Donatella are going to be thematically similar at all, based on what we know about Donatella at least. Also, I don't think Fashion and Donatella are going to be thematically similar at all, based on what we know about Donatella at least. im not saying they cant be artistic, but they dont seem to be written in the context of art, if that makes any sense. to answer, i will use this quote from gaga's v magazine interview "In pop art, you could make something art just by placing it in a museum and calling it art. but i dont think that trick works anymore. im trying to achieve the opposite; how do i turn a non artistic space, into a space for art?" i feel like her music should reflect this attitude, and continue the mission as stated in the ARTPOP press release, of "bringing art culture into pop, heading into the music industry with forte". taking a hip hop song about Jewels N' Drugs, and justifying its purpose by calling it art, is the opposite of ARTPOP. making a bunch of seemingly inconsequential pop songs and saying its art is the trick gaga said she's out to disprove. how about writing more songs that turn the pop landscape inside out, with subjects, ideas, stories, fantasies that challenge people. there only seems to be a small few of those songs we've heard so far in regards to ARTPOP, i mean, i could be wrong, but we know about almost every song now. Titzlol 607
It is. It really sounds like something huge, and I love that. I don't care if it's "safe" or whatever, it's one of Gaga's best songs and it's more than deserving of any and all success it receives.

TDM90 0
Its absurd for her to release 'DWUW' just because of the success within the first 24-hours. The same thing happened to 'The Edge Of Glory, and that to me; Messed up the entire era. Imagine if she hadn't released 'EDGE' as an Single, we could've had so much more.
