Agreed. It wouldn't make sense that she would start revealing the cover now when it's supposed to be Monday. Especially when this would reveal the main part of the cover.

please god, let this be true!

Guys this is not the cover, it's just "The Birth Of Venus" used as an illustration for it.

This is what Coldplays cover for Viva La Vida was:

Nothing wrong with using old paintings for an album cover. But I'm not sure how copyright works exactly. Maybe they have to make some kind of deal with the museum who owns the original piece?

One of the most iconic covers I've ever seen :flutter: and one of the best albums ever :legend: they did that cover in months but it was all worth it. The cover perfectly embodied the whole theme and tracks.

I have a Theory that the Bits to be revealed first will be the parts covered by the birth of venus painting? Idk like maybe she put that in to screw with us and the whole album cover is underneath the white and the painting and the bits of painting will reveal the background and bits of text then the white parts will reveal like the main core of the image? I dunno just a theory :laughga:

Wouldn't that be like plagiarism or something anyway? :duck:

Hasn't the copyright for the painting expired? I'm unsure how that works, I've seen the painting used in other forms on new entertainment.

I googled it and it seems like the painting is now in the public domain since it's from the 1500's.

That's correct, I've studied a bit of intellectual property law... copyright has a limited lifespan

It varies from country to country, and depending on the type of work it is... but on average its for around 50 years. So a painting from the 16th century definitely would be in the public domain

The painting is probably in the public domain, but individual photographs of it can still be copyright.

The cover was worked on by Jeff Koons- its not just Gaga's head photoshopped onto the Boticelli Venus. People need to stop worrying about that.
