I couldn't care less about that. According to the moderator who gave me 2 WP for my original post, I should be worried about the amount of pages my thread has, because that will determine whether my thread was flamebaiting or not. Appearently discussing sensitive topics is also forbidden on GGD.

You know what Flamebait is though, right? It's like walking up to a hornets nest and taking a few swings at it with a stick. That is what this thread sort of did with fans here... This thread can carry on, if users remain civil and make valid points with reason. However, mud slinging just gets ugly and unproductive.

I want her to go the other way.  I want her using unknown producers, obscure directors, and doing as much in the Haus as possible.  I want the Haus creative vision, not a rehash generic vision that everyone else has.

 

Judas is my favorite video of hers.  Nobody else would have done that video.  Nobody else would have done most of Gaga's videos from TFM and beyond.  I want her voice, her art, not somebody elses.

 

I'd rather she fail than give in to the system.

She employes creative directors and photographers to create all of her visual work (other than during much of btw) so if you feel she's all over the place, then look at the facts, it's all very well saying she control it all, but creative directors are paid specifically to interpret or channel her vision in the visual spectrum.... So to put it all on her shoulders is wrong, as they are the ones interpreting that vision with her

She doesn't hire seasoned industry professionals, she relies too much on her own direction and Haus members, and ultimately the product they produce isn't polished enough to make the maximum impact with the GP. She's putting her own artistic vision above the need to be marketable and maximize sales, and personally I don't like that. I feel it's egotistical for an artist to put their own vision ahead of their success. She should realize by now that without more professional help, she cannot be a #1 super star.

I really want to see her succeed commercially, even if that means she needs to give up control. I don't

want her to turn into an honest but obscure artist. I haven't liked her videos since the Fame Monster.

Does anyone else agree with me that they would prefer Chart-GA over ART-GA?

I don't really agree with what I just wrote there, because I think she is doing FINE with sales, but I think that expresses what you are feeling in a way that would not have upset so many people. :shrug:

There are many "fans" who, through their inability or lack of interest in trying to comprehend what Gaga is doing with her vision at any given time, turn to belittling her and her intelligence in a constant stream of self-importance and wrapped in an attitude of knowing much better than her what actions she should take as to her own career and art, because, so they like to think, Gaga is not to be "trusted" with either.

 

If Gaga would follow a 1/1000th of what some of these fans continually and childishly demand she does, there would be one of two scenarios taking place (or a mixture of both). She would become the generic entertainer - as opposed to visionary artist - who pleases the lowest common denominator and has fleeting "success" but will never be remembered in the future, especially not as the icon who changed the industry she undoubtedly is. The irony of which is that this is exactly the type of person most of these fans look down on. Or she would just fail because almost 100% of the time these "fans" have no idea what constitutes a good career move - let alone know better than the person who became bigger worldwide before the age of 30 than any star has ever achieved. More importantly, she would not be doing what she wants and execute her own artistic vision - if that is something, as a fan of her, that you wish upon her then I don't know what to think anymore.

 

Having your opinion on her work is fine by me (inb4 "we don't have to be mindless sheep who praise everything she does!!11!"), it would be boring otherwise. But once you cross that line from talking about her output to talking about her in a disparaging and condescending way (and, most of the time, aiming at her intelligence and character in the process) you can't expect people to just nod their heads and not defend her. I'd go even further and say that if you're one of those people who cross that line, you don't deserve her in the very least.

The fact that she hasn't had a professional music video director (photographers don't count) direct one of her videos since early 2010 and the fact that DJ Whiteshadow is the main producer for ARTPOP after the horror that was the Born This Way era...
