Quark 7,098
But I love that about Gaga's videos. I love the fact that they are full of ideas and artistic symbolism even when they are a little over 3 minutes (in the case of Applause). I think wrecking ball is more of a mess even though it was very simple. WB's video is simple. Applause's isn't because it's full of ideas (because of her and because the directors couldn't tell her to stop, probably).
adorno 484
For now I kinda get what you want to say and partially agree (especially the part about ARTPOP performance - pure magic). All this, yes. You have a point sis

Vernier 3,786
WB's video is simple. Applause's isn't because it's full of ideas (because of her and because the directors couldn't tell her to stop, probably). What does that have to do with anything? If her "ego" is so out of control like you said, then what does it matter if she's not working with her friends? Her ginomous ego, could probably just fire them then if they don't agree with where her ego is taking her I guess she can't work with anyone anymore then :( Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn
aaronyoji 2,054
I get your point (I've said it too in a thread), but I never said what you said in that last part. it wasnt really directed at you, but in general, people wanting her to appeal to the lamestream just isnt gonna happen, shes not the it girl anymore, shes established, as is beyonce, etc. so to cope with that, they just make harsh, sweeping accusations at gaga's work, and its so ugh. why cant you guys just be happy with what she does?? shes progressed way beyond her fame monster days, her work has gotten a lot better, i dont know what else more she can do to please you guys.... Quark 7,098
I disagree once again. If you look at this forum for example, most Gaga fans liked her video and performance of Appluse. Also, at this point, I think Gaga will be making music for her entire career even if flops. And that is all I care about. If it's not 'edible' for the general public Gaga won't be staying around for too much longer. She has to have some form of mass-appeal. I'm not speaking for everybody; but I'm pretty sure I'm speaking for a fair majority of people.
KING5KAT 223
I agree with none of this. Let Gaga do what she wants, it's HER career. At the end of the day she's an artist and as much as she still has lessons to learn, she's gonna be a round for a very long time. So deal.
Arturo 40,746
Perhaps you're mistaking her artistic integrity for egocentricism. She feels most comfortable when she's not doing what others are doing by making relatable videos. I don't miss TFM at all, rather, I loathe it. dontbesweet 7
I disagree once again. If you look at this forum for example, most Gaga fans liked her video and performance of Appluse. Also, at this point, I think Gaga will be making music for her entire career even if flops. And that is all I care about. I love the video and I really like the VMA performance. I am talking about Gaga BTW-ARTPOP era so far. If you read what I put properly, you'll see I'm not bashing Gaga, just sharing my thoughts on how her material has declined in recent years because of this 'oh I'm so ART' attitude she has. LetsGetHigh 52,683
And what are those "more creative work" you suggest? Edited October 3, 2013 by LetsGetHigh
Swine 504
I'd rather see what her and her team come up with than what she hires someone else to do, even if that means the end result is not as slick and glossy as whatever soulless garbage other pop stars are peddling. In the long run her legacy will show that she wasn't happy just hiring others to do the work, she wanted to be hands-on with all aspects of her art and to push herself to learn new things (like color balancing the Applause video herself, for example). That will separate her from whoever is the temporary "it girl" of the moment and will win her a lot of respect in the long run, just like the comedian Louis C.K. is so respected for taking control over almost every aspect of his current television show even if that means the end result is rough around the edges in some ways. So do you think the videos from The Fame Monster Era were all in the same level as "whatever soulless garbage other pop stars are peddling"? Amen Fashion 1,145
I fully agree. She works with friends which is not the best thing to do. I mean yes she still makes good art but look at all her work with professional people like Steven Klein.

IziDominique 0
that's what makes Gagz different from other pop artists - she is HANDS ON with her work, unlike the basics.. uhmm Katy/Rihanna
