drbumblenut 48
Blaargh amazing! BTW is my favorite Gaga album because it was such a towering ode to love, freedom, and rock and roll, and every song was hummable, and it was so layered and over the top and aaagh. That era was a fearless skydive through hope into despair and into hope again. It was a privilege to witness. But this... THIS is more than I could have dreamed of! The last 15 seconds are pure rock bliss. And the way she slips into this style so effortlessly makes me wonder what the F she's been doing for the past 5 years. But then -- she's ALL of these styles. Remember when she said the "Yoü and I" video was about bridging her past and future as an artist? And how it crosscut between like 5 different versions of Gaga? It was kind of a mess, but if you went with it abstractly, it really did give a sense of one personality's experiences influencing all the others. She must have been deep into ARTPOP all the way back then! Edited August 30, 2013 by drbumblenut

ironyking 0
THE VOCALS. THE MELODY. THE CHOREOGRAPHY. :nooo: YAAAAAASSSSSS. i really can't see myself liking the edm version on the album more than this rock version of MANiCURE. ITS SO PERF IM OFFICIALLY HYPED TO LISTEN TO IT 4 HOURS BEFORE MY EXAM ON MONDAY(Sg time) Edit: Not a fan of the I need a man as a cure type of lyrics, but I might just be jumping the gun totally. I think (and hope) there's a chance that the lyrics are subversive. I'm excited! i feel that maybe shes being sarcastic? like pointing out the stupidity of the concept that women need men in their lives. totally here for these lyrics. aaronyoji 2,053
Not a fan of the I need a man as a cure type of lyrics, but I might just be jumping the gun totally. I think (and hope) there's a chance that the lyrics are subversive. I'm excited! well my response to this would be a quote from her Stylist interview from november: Can make-up and feminism ever truly be friends? You know what’s so funny is, I actually think there’s a new feminism that is completely different and I don’t think either is better or worse. Any kind of feminist has valid views for herself about what it means to be a feminist, but, as a new-age feminist, I would say I quite like the transference of strength I feel by submitting to a man – being under him. I actually wrote a song about it on my album, it’s called G.U.Y. and it stands for Girl Under You. So wearing make-up, smelling delicious and having suckable, kissable, edible things between your limbs is something I find strengthening because I know that when I pick the right guy, I can let him have it. Some women feel oppressed by make-up and clothing, and here’s to them, they have every right to feel that way as well. edit: omg did anyone notice the 3 dancers have microphones as well??
