Do you have any idea how many copies Applause sold in Germany in 3 weeks? Could it be above 50,000 ?

I don't think so yet. I guess it's around 45.000.

Forecast and competition check:

Top 3?

At the moment, I don't see Gaga reaching Top 3 next week. Roar (#3) is now an aspirant for the pole position, since demand for Wake Me Up (#1) is diminishing and she really is only a few copies behind La La La (#2, I'd say only some hundred copies). Katy is played a lot on all kinds of mainstream radio stations. The discount for Wake Me Up on Amazon is not so important, since German single charts are counted by turnover (sales x price). However, I think it will take Katy at least more than one week to reach #1. It'd be her first #1 since Hot'N'Cold (2008).

Top 5?

Top 5 next week is still very plausible for Applause. If Blurred Lines will continue to diminish in downloads, I'd say Applause has a sure #4, but it will depend on the stability of Gaga and the physical sales of BL.

thats nice. I dont think she had longevity in Germany with BTW.

The single quiet had. It was ten weeks Top 10. (2-6-5-1-1-2-2-4-8-8)

TEOG "only" reached #3, but actually was longer on the chart with 34 weeks, BTW single 29 weeks.

Even the longevity of MTN was alright - with 17 weeks (peak #17) only five weeks behind Telephone (22 weeks).

You're welcome :)

But you're not wrong, compared to TF(M) she didn't have a banger with 40+ weeks or several songs with 30+ weeks.

I have a good feeling for ARTPOP though :)

Forecast 9/4:

The only one that has similar chart positions on major download stores as "Applause" is "Burn".

Applause: (Gaga somehow lost some positions the last days)

iTunes #8

Amazon #4

Musicload #9

Burn:

iTunes #5

Amazon #6

Musicload #7

On the single chart, "Burn" is on #6, "Applause" on #5. It will depend on the next days whether or not they will swap positions.

If Gaga continues to decrease, John Newman's "Love Me Again" will also be a competitor.

To sum up: Best case #5, worst case #7.

For sure third week Top 10, fourth Top 20 :)
