drbumblenut 48
GUYZ. Lightning has just struck my brain. The second verse of "Swine"! We've all had trouble hearing it, so it's been a lot of mental trial-and-error to match it against the meaning of the song, which is about, well, d--gs. Specifically, it's about the manic-depressive's Catch 22: which is the most exciting way to destroy myself? Through my body or my mind? Here, she's already internalized it, rationalizing it, taking d--gs to look hot: [Verse 2] Hey there How much would I ask of you, squealer? (Let your body jiggle)That for skinny...This to make your ass go quicker! (It’s the thrill of ecstasy) As in, she's on a couple different d--gs, to "stay out of her mind." The song pretty clearly mirrors a d--g overdose (despair > euphoria > terror > madness > shutoff), and I've always thought most of the lyrics are from the POV of the d--g itself, as projected upon by a young Stefani. They're taunting words, almost sneering. If this is correct, it's a freakin' amazingly economical way to tell the story. Anyway, I have a lot of thoughts about this, mainly about how anytime we see a black-haired Gaga writhing on a mattress, we're actually revisiting Stefani's mental breakdown. Just wanted to get this into the ether for folks to think about! :) Edited October 6, 2013 by drbumblenut

Likewise lyrics of her other songs can be from other than her own viewpoint, e.g. some of Sex Dreams' are said from Taylor's viewpoint.

Bellatrix 34,639
is there more than 16 songs on ARTPOP,people keep saying there is. We don't know that for sure. So it's better to count on that there will be 15 (16 on the Japanese version) until we get a confirmation from Gaga.

Andertxu 2
Its only a promo single if it had success, it could turn into an actual single, just like what happened to TEOG
