I am afraid to say Gaga has been done in the UK since Yoü and I flopped

Yet she just scored a top 5 single which was in the top 10 for over a month :awkney:

If it was just fan driven sales, Applause wouldn't have sat in the top 10 for 5 weeks :awkney:

I know this may seem a bit of an out of date question, but how on earth did It's My Party get to #3? It was #4 throughout its entire debut week and slipped to #5 for the last day and a half. Yes, the remix counts towards sales, but that wasn't released until after it made its chart debut. Counting Stars was charting above her all week and had been at #2 the previous week, so how did it register below Jessie in the end?

I think she did fairly well in the UK with Applause. It was Top 5 which is amazing considering the context of it's release!! I really think releasing Sex Dreams next will do wonders for her in the UK, a s-xy song will really help her gain some love because it's a very universal subject matter and if she has Rihanna on it then she's on to a winner: the UK love Rihanna.

She didn't perform Applause on any major TV shows or do a live lounge for Radio 1; this is clearly a very concious decision that highlights Applause as a song that was meant to test the waters and see how much it could do with minimal promo (same can be said for US which did have some promo, but not as much as usual). Considering Gaga did lose some love in the UK, a Top 5 hit from minimal interviews and no performances is brilliant (not counting SwineFest because people had to actively seek it out online, rather than it being on a big TV show) It's sold fairly well and I honestly have heard significantly less negativity towards her which is more important in the long run, I think Applause has been a stabiliser, to reset the balance; it's certainly got strange and 'Gaga' aspects but it's a largely inoffensive song to warm people up to her again. Whether this was intentional or not, I don't know, but that appears to be what's happened to me. It's just now the next single needs to be pure Gaga pop brilliance, so I really hope they play it right.

5 weeks in top 10 isnt bad but its disappointing! Lana got more than 10 weeks...thats all I am gonna say. And Gaga was never above her.
