StrawberryBlond 14,268
Sam Bailey's debut album will be released next month and it has 11 songs, 9 of which are covers, 2 of which she sang on the show and 1 of which is her winner's single. I've never seen an XF winner's album that badly screwed-over since Steve Brookstein's. PRISM is platinium. When will ARTPOP? Only because it got all the best UK promo spots. Roar was performed on X Factor a week before the album was due to be released. She appeared on Graham Norton. Unconditionally was performed on The X Factor finale and she advertised her tour afterwards. She also performed the song on Alan Carr. And she just performed Dark Horse at the BRITS. All three singles got the best promo money can buy. Plus, every single has had a video and her last album was the peak of her career, so she's still reaping those benefits. I'd be shocked if she hadn't gone platinum after all that. Gaga was the same story with BTW because she got amazing UK promo and was still feeling the aftermath of the success TF and TFM brought her. But ARTPOP's very different. It had very limited promo, she's gone all reclusive for a while and it wasn't following on from her biggest success. I'm sure Katy will experience similar problems with her next album, when she's in the same situation. I somehow don't think today's youth are going to support a popstar in her 30's. Which is partly why I fear the prospect of Gaga getting older.
Arturo 40,746
Wasn't everyone rejoicing that the UK was "over Katy" I expect ARTPOP to be Platinum by the end of her tour here. Yeah, that's more than 7 months away, but oh well.
craig 680
I somehow don't think today's youth are going to support a popstar in her 30's. Which is partly why I fear the prospect of Gaga getting older. Age is more about number of years since someone got big. Britney and Beyonce had a 10+ year career at 30, so they seem older than Madonna or Gaga or Katy at that age.
