Arturo 40,746
Guys, this debate has been going on for a bit too long. Just drop it for now :)
craig 680
He is not unique in doing that. That's been happening in dance music for a looong time. Give me some comparable examples? The Chemical Brothers may have uncredited vocalists, but the vocals were short or repetitive and just added some flavour to a primarily beats and production driven song. Since then it has became MORE customary to credit features. I can't think of an example were the vocals and lyrics make the song, and the DJ does the equivalent of remixing Summertime Sadness and taking the writersingers name off the song. PS: Arturo, didn't see your post before making this one, sorry if we're being annoying.
Sexxx 5,538
Would appreciate if the Xtina version of DWUW was released here. Maybe they're finally seeing sense and not rushing things? Waiting for the video?

Janet 1,417
Let's all just take a minute to reflect on Applause missing the biggest selling songs of 2013 top 40, beaten by such classics as 'The Other Side' (Derulo) and 'Wild' (Jessie J) http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/the-official-top-40-biggest-singles-of-2013-2709/

I can't whether that is a good thing, with more people choosing to buy her music, or bad, in that people are just totally disinterested (low sales, low piracy)
Mills 446
2 entries each for Avicii, Calvin Harris, Rihanna, will.i.am, Ellie Goulding, and Jason Derulo then. And of course, Pharrell getting those top two smash hits as a featured artist. If anything, 2013 was the best year for him.

It's a bit disheartening that she missed both lists, implying that whether actual consumers or those who resort to illegal downloading, they still prefer more songs than hers. Hopefully she'd eventually make up this year, and a performance at this year's BRITs could be a great start.

Hopefully she'd eventually make up this year, and a performance at this year's BRITs could be a great start. It does make for disheartening reading. I had considered DWUW to be her public-interest renaissance - radio liked it, the public liked it, the performances had gone down well and it was holding up well on iTunes worldwide. However, the lack of a video seems to have killed off the chance DWUW had, and I now really worry for ARTPOP

Hindsight makes me think that it might've been better just to leave ARTPOP to the start of 2014? idk... Gaga can definitely do better with 2014 though, so long as the most intelligent choices are made in terms of singles and promo. We know that she's performing at the Brits, so that's a step in the right direction

DWUW was a decent top ten hit here at least unlike the US (so far) but it could've done so much more. I don't think the video will push it back to the top ten sadly. ALTHOUGH the fact it's still top 30 on iTunes when it's been absent from Radio 1 for so long is kinda amazing. It is rising on radio because of all the Christmas songs disappearing though, #17 now. It was #28 on Saturday!
