UK Album Downloads Top 40 - 18th January 2014

1 3 5 Beyonce, Beyonce

2 1 8 Now That's What I Call Music 86, Various Artists

3 5 66 Halcyon, Ellie Goulding

Beyonce's weakness in physicals cost her. I deduced that from the way Ellie pulled away on Fri-Sat prime shopping days. Neck and neck all week, Ellie ended up on top by over 5000.

26k for a #1 eugh just painful sales

Not too bad when there hasn't been a significant album release in 4 weeks.

Outside of Xmas period, it a rare album that can sell 20k after it's first 4 weeks.

Just cos that's the norm it doesn't mean that's okay. It's horrific for the industry.

Nice to see the UK not being left out when it comes to major single releases. The Shakira + Rihanna single being released on a Monday too... Why can't we have these simple privileges

I love Lily's new song! Hope it does better than HOH which should've done way better :(

Loving it too! It sounds so her. Can't wait for the video.

Someone can tell me why Ellie is number 1 when her album was released in 2012 and the re release last year? I mean, I'm happy for her and I'm such a big fan, but this album has been clearly a sleeper.

what really pisses me off is that i actually bought DWUW in the first week (not part of a pre order) and it's not counted for the total sale

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ellie_Goulding_discography

It's first 3 singles peaked 5, 33, 13. Then she had 3 big hits

I Need Your Love was #4 in spring (amazing post-album)

Burn was #1 for 3 weeks in August (re-release).

How Long was #3, Children in Need single.

No other pop girl has put together 3 UK smash hits like that lately.

She sold over 700k with first album, and finally convinced the public to buy her 2nd.
