Gaga's sales likely held steady or went up a bit to remain  #32 in Xmas market. I bet after Xmas many seasonal albums will drop, ARTPOP will be discounted, and she'll return to top 20.

So #1 is a boy band created on X Factor 2010. Top female pop act is a Little Mix created XF 2011 (if you don't count R Ferguson #6). X Factor judge #3. Olly Murs another XF alumni #4. Leona Lewis is too far removed from XF fame when she sold millions - she debuts #25. Behind James Arthur #12 and Susan Boyle #13.

Shocker, Taylor Swift still in Top 100 albums but Rihanna isn't!

As for Do What U Want - how are we feeling about it's potential grammy performance? The Grammy's are in 49 days, and the single has been out for 48 days. We're smack bang in the middle at the moment.

With a mid-december video, will the song continue to rise as radio becomes easier again? This is getting crazy.

No I don't think she should, in my opinion. She should launch single 3 at BRITs/Grammys. There's no point in playing songs that are in the latter stages of their chart life at huge promo opportunities such as award shows. It's just flogging a dead horse. Like Miley proved by performing Wrecking Ball at the AMAs in US and The X Factor here in the UK, very high profile platforms in each territory. Both performances had hardly any effect because everyone was already familiar with those songs.

The way I see it, each quarter of the year has its major promo spots. I'm only gonna talk US/UK opportunities.

Q1 - BRITs, Grammys

Q2 - Britain's Got Talent, American Idol

Q3 - VMAs

Q4 - The X Factor, AMAs, The Voice

Just to name some of them. The way I see it, there should ideally be 4 singles in a year that are based around the four quarters/seasons, and promoted at these events. DWUW has already been promoted at major Q4 events, even though the video isn't even out yet. Even if it is still high by late Jan/Feb time when the Grammys come about, another high profile performance of it won't help, and the public will already be familiar with it so it wouldn't help ARTPOP sales either.

Lol I'm going on a bit, but in short she shouldn't promote the same song at big shows that are like 3 months apart cos it sacrifices the opportunity to launch the next single in a big way

I hope she sold 10k+ albums this week... as long as she goes platinum in the long run it's fine.

....and wow at that Britney Jean debut , I guess she really is over in the UK o_O

***I just realized Britney never had a #1 album either

Even in the 00's when they all were on top, Britney couldn't outcompete Kylie and Girls Aloud in their home market.

In the US her brand of dance pop was unique, so people put up certain weaknesses (lip syncing, album filler).
