Question - How come the UK and Europe wouldn't accept a country-rock influenced single from Gaga (You and I), but you go nuts for Wake Me Up from Avicii. Sounds like very typical country rock or folk rock songs. In the US it's getting placed by Alternative radio but will likely peak #4. It's more generic sounding than Lorde's Royals, which truly is smashing the charts.

Umm sorry but WMU does not sound country at all! Folk is something really different, and its not just folk. The main reason behind its success are lyrics. So many ppl can connect with the chorus.

I suppose we can all agree that 200k/225k is a realistic expectation for this promo single's final sales

Impressive

Applause is a lost cause now, unless Gaga decides that she cares about how well the song performs in the UK.

She better have the promo on POINT for the next single era. she literally has no excuse. there are so many opportunities, both US and UK

her reputation in the uk has been damaged so much and it's all thanks to born this way alienating her entire ****ing fanbase here.. it's not surprising seeing applause underwhelm tbh. i've lost hope for my country (uk) she should just stop promoting here and just promote in japan.

Lorde is releasing Royals in the UK soon.

That will chart very high, alot of people i know have just discovered it!

if Robbie Williams is releasing an album a week after Gaga, then i'm sorry..

Gaga is ****ed, she needs to go to number one week of release or Gaga will be done in the UK... Forever

I hate to be pessimistic, but if ARTPOP fails in the UK, she might as well forget about the UK

The US industrymediapublic tends to keep supporting it's big stars once they are made, unless they really mess up or music trends really change. But it's harder to make it big overnight than in the UK.

The UK tends to hype the latest greatest thing, so decline on follow-up albums is inevitable. I could list many cases from the past 10 years, most dropping off harder and further than Gaga.

Even Kylie, queen of longevity in UK pop, had huge peaks in the late 80s and around Fever album, followed by rather sharp declines in album sales.

Words can't even explain how much of success Royals will be in the UK :')

It's a song which is completely for the UK market...

She's not done in the UK,stop overreacting.

What are the total sales for Applause so far?

I never said she was, I said if ARTPOP fails then she will.

She won't get two chances, if ARTPOP peaks #2 #3 she will wither away in the UK public eye

Nah Gaga will be one of those artists that will always get a hit that breaks through big at least every 2 years in the UK. Songs like Just Dance Bad Romance Edge of Glory will always breakthrough big with the British public. She just needs one per album.
