The question is just how serious is Gaga at this point and whether she decides to actually pursue the results. To be honest, I think, even if Applause flags worse than it is right now, it looks like it will still be a "moderate" hit for a couple more weeks. And I think she needs those couple more weeks. If she were to release a second single really soon, and it were to struggle like Applause, she'd run the risk of having to put out a THIRD single to push through the album release, and the album would be losing steam as soon as it starts its cycle--precisely what happened with BTW. I think it's best to let Applause run its course a bit longer. And this is coming from someone that thinks it's Gaga's worst single, and probably among her least impressive songs in general.
