If we based the insights given by the radio program directors who were interviewed in a Billboard article published a week ago regarding Roar and Applause, I think it's their seemingly reluctance, well at least the majority of them, to heavily play a song they deem not to be a "listeners drawer" partly explains the slow growth of Applause in overall radio.

While radio support determines the longevity of a record in the charts (through sustaining sales or even boosting them up), the sales performance of a song (particularly a newly released one) on the other hand is also vital for radio program directors in determining whether they'd give a record a massive airplay or not (specifically after the radio deals have expired). While labels strive for airplay to promote their records, the radio stations seek audience for their advertisers. If they see the initial response to a song to be lukewarm, as evident in the sales charts, there's no way heavy rotations would be given to that song - regardless of the lucrative deals. Blurred Lines is a good example, I think.

With that said, we still have the VMAs for that sales boost we all want for Applause. And hopefully, once the sales has tremendously improve, radio would eventually pick up and reclaim Gaga as its Queen like she used to be during the TF/TFM era (6 consecutive Pop Songs #1s). So yeah, let's all have those fingers crossed! Because I still believe that Gaga WILL slay!

Thanks for this post :worship: Hopefully now the meltdowns will stop.

Have you heard the Wake Me Up remix ft. Pitbull? :eww:
