Ty3009 232
If someone pre-orders the album that includes the sale of the single, that single sale is not reflected on the iTunes chart. Predictions were made (based on the itunes chart) that Applause would debut with about 225k. That is before any pre-order sales were taken into consideration. The 218K number we got proves that the pre-order sales were not taken into consideration on the Billboard Digital Chart, but apparently it has been posted on ATRL that those pre-order sales are included in the Hot 100 chart. Bill also confirmed they are taken into consideration. I understand the situation with preorders as the iTunes chart is concerned. However, I don't understand how preorder single sales are factored into the Hot 100 if they are not tallied as digital sales. The Hot 100 formula consists of sales, radio, and streaming. Where do the preorders go? The only thing that makes sense in Applause's case is if the 218k sold actually does take those preorder numbers into account. Otherwise, where would Billboard stick them in determining the Hot 100. Many in the thread didn't think that 218k figure quoted on the digital sales chart included the preorder numbers. But since that same figure was quoted in the Hot 100 it looks like they must. Sorry for harping on the subject. I just want to make sure that myself and everyone else are on the correct page
Bt1 5,213
the vevo record is based on 24hrs from the release of the music video, regardless of its first point of availability in other countries. Maybe the statistics aren't fully updated, we'll see the video was release at 8:30 ( on Good morning America) New York time. That means that the August 19 views shown on Youtube doesnt include the views from August 20 ( from 00:00 to 08:30 - 8 h and a half of views). Americano stated he read on ATRL that they aren't included on the digital chart, but are on Hot 100. That seems strange to me, too. I agree it needs clarification from someone at Billboard. I'd like them to do a Table each week showing the exact numbers of points from sales, airplay and streaming for the whole Hot 100, and so how the total points work out - but they won't will they. There's something they are hiding.

When I saw those digital figures today my gut told me they purposely didn't even include the pre-order sales when they seem to do it for every other artist. And it makes me question if they even bothered to include them in the Hot 100....

whiteboi1327 101
I feel like if the song is falling already with being #20 on top 40 radio, then the song will have no longevity and will just crash after VMA promotion.

Same here. I honestly think Gaga might just stop being a mainstream artist. Too much backlash IMO. I am here for her if she continues making music. I hope she doesn't pull a Xtina and just quits. Then on Sunday after VMA it will go to #4 then fall again lol. It will just be a cycle. Unless she becomes Rihanna and score a #1 weeks after the song releases, like Diamonds did
