00000000 1
How is Slaypplause doing? red updates, but still above dark horse. she's actually got a good leg up on DH. impatiently waiting for the radio update though.
nick4bty 2,758
Why is Try at #86 while True Love isn't even in the Top 100?
Arturo 40,746
I agree. I don't think it's necessary to release a second single before the album like her and her team seem to think. Just release one or two promo singles and let Applause keep growing. Single eras are typically three months anyways. I'm sick of Gaga's single eras being two. Yup. The REASON why Katy Perry and Rihanna get 3M sellers with every single is because their single eras are extended. If Applause is still trucking in October, I'll be furious if they even think of releasing a single to radio. I mean, look at the gap between Diamonds and Stay, Sept. 25th - Jan 8, almost 4 months. Emvee 8,412
Hm, very true. I think about this a lot too. She already confirmed the 2nd single should be out before the album, but what if she can milk Applause for much longer, even after the album has been released, similar to Diamonds? At the point we're at now, is it even smart to release a second single THAT early when Applause hasn't even hit its peak on radio, which will let it keep selling. If Applause is still growing by mid-October and still rising on radio, why kill the song? Honestly, a promo single is all she needs considering the way things are going. A second single would just kill Applause prematurely. Unapologetic didn't do so hot and I'm guessing it's because Diamonds and Stay didn't do much for it. I think she needs a smash hit on the radio that will give the GP a reason to pick up the album. I don't want to be pessimistic but I highly doubt Applause will be able to carry the album for nearly 5 months on its own.
craig 680
I mean, look at the gap between Diamonds and Stay, Sept. 25th - Jan 8, almost 4 months. Rihanna had to wait out the Xmas freeze. December is a sucky time to release new singles. Gaga has to do it in November when her biggest promo opps will be.
nick4bty 2,758
I'm trying to figure out why Def Jam thought it would be a good idea to release "What Now" after "Right Now." Rihanna had to wait out the Xmas freeze. December is a sucky time to release new singles. Gaga has to do it in November when her biggest promo opps will be. Not really. Diamonds didn't hit #1 until the end of November. It's not that she was stuck - it was just that Diamonds took almost 3 months to peak. The same might happen to to Applause. I'm trying to figure out why Right Now got snub treatment from the label, it could have been a smash for her. I'm guessing they are pretending that Right Now never happened and What Now is a follow up to Stay.

We need Wrecking Ball, Roar, or Royals to die first. Ugh, if that would happen to Applause, that'd be great.
AURA 2,890
I thought I was the only one who dislikes Gaga's 2 months single eras. Everything happens so fast with her recent eras that it kills itself.

chris777 112
What Now is a good choice for a single IMO. Unapologetic didn't do better because everything was so messy after Stay. And about Applause it needs to be close to 2x platinum and then release the second single

Honestly, I think the best it can do is get back to its #4 peak. Unless Roar peaks and nosedives, or Miley's radio updates slow down, or Royals stalls. I mean, all three are possible, and there's a chance Applause could keep getting these great radio updates and pass everyone up, but I just don't see it happening. AURA 2,890
It's because Gaga gets ahead of herself all the ****ing time. The girl has no patience. She has to be patient because she's killing her own work and the chances to show the full potential of it. If you brought this up, I remember how she was already focused on ARTPOP and started talking about it A MONTH after BTW's release :deadbanana:
Emvee 8,412
Doesn't Applause's longevity really depend on whether other formats will pick it up? She can't rely on pop to sustain until January and from the looks of those updates, it doesn't seem like those formats are keen on what Applause brings to their tables.
