YouTube is different. Artists actually earn money for views, which they don't with commercials or performances. Streams are equatable to sales in that way. And as someone mentioned earlier people choose to watch a video.

I think it a great and fair addition. YouTube and music videos are very influential (oftentimes more than radio) in a song's success and deserve to be counted.

That's the thing, though. They already affect a song's sales if people like the video/song, so why give them another huge boost with the views? Youtube views just have WAY too much power.

I agree the ratio should probably be adjusted, but I think if streaming is slashed radio should be too. DJs can play whatever they want, regardless if it's selling. The Give Your Heart a Break disaster comes to mind. In that way I think streaming is at least better than radio. It's usually more accurate in terms of public interest/iTunes position.

I honestly wouldn't mind if Billboard adopted the UK approach and just based our charts off sales alone.

I also think the streaming ratio in the formula should be higher than radio's.

Which would be a disadvantage for Applause rn though.

Completely agree. Radio is a complete joke as well. Like Magoo has stated a few times, the Hot 100 in general has turned into a complete mess anyway. They won't release the official formula because they pick and choose song's Hot 100 positions from time to time.

Digital Sales is the only valid chart.

She's #9 on streaming and #18 on radio.

Seriously? They were the ones who boycotted an artist and now they are accusing we also have done the same.

Some of them are really Britarded.

Stans really overestimate their influence and numbers. There's really no way stans can sabotage a song, there's just not enough of them that care that much.

What would the current  charts look like if they did?

(I know very little about how charts work so I dunno if that's a bad or unanswerable question).

well Applause would have been a Top 3 hit instead of a Top 5 hit.

I know, right? If we could barely make MTN budge on the MTN download day, we certainly can't sabotage another artist's single :dies:

im seeing it at #10 on streaming chart.

We all know its radio support is more important rn. It will also help the song in the long run compared to its streaming.
