Firstly IF applause could have hit number 1 on Itunes, It would've get way more exposed and therefore would've sell more copies 2ndly there probably won't be any new single released the same day selling 550k 3rdly :D now after Applause, people are probably more Interested In Gaga so .. Honestly, it depends on the single. MDNA was the most pre-ordered US album and ...... No, it wasn't. It broke a record at the time for topping a lot of countries, but its actual numbers weren't as great as The 20/20 experience in the US. Peaks mean nothing without longevity.
