HOTRODSGAGA 81
They WERE pretty huge. A singles artist would be someone like Katy Perry who's buzz comes only from singles, or Rihanna whose album sales are abysmal but here and there she gets to number 1 and sells millions of the track. I just don't see Gaga as being like them. It's been already 5 singles without a number one and her last best selling song was TEOG and even that wasn't as huge when compared to her older singles. i mean it's pretty relative. you may be right. idk. maybe she's in between. bumblebee 2,528
Are you for real? JD- 6mil PF- 7 mil BR- 5mil BTW- 4 mil and a handful of other multiplatinum singles. She was/is a singles artist. idk if she can pull big album numbers without smash singles. But you can't deny the fact, that once her album sales became stronger and more splid, she started to decline in singles sales in the USA. JUST DANCE and POKER FACE sold amazing in 2009, but The Fame sales in 2009 didn't represent the monster success of her two first singles. We can even say The Fame wa selling relatively slow, I mean people were buying JD and PF because nobody was actually interested in her album, untill the VMAs 2009 and the BAD ROMANCE release.Once she put out Bad Romance (which is widely regarded as the biggest hit of her career) and and The Fame Monster, her album sales shot to the top, and she sold over 6,000,000 copies of her first two albums. But her single sales started to decline, cause more people became actually interested in the whole album. To everybody: I don't think there's a reason to worry over APPLAUSE now, I mean to worry the way that we do, with all the hysteria and the meltdowns. I'm not even sure that there's another popstar who can survive 1,5 years of media blackout and than release a song about Jeff Koons, Fame IV and nostalgia geeks, and actually manage to sell. I'm also surprised with the mild reaction from the radio stations, so let's ensure the song with the best possible fan support and ensure its longest run on the charts. When such a song doesn't move 4,000,000 digital copies, it's not the reason to question Gaga as a single artist.

nick4bty 2,758
I'm still so lost on Britney's lead single choice. She went through quite possibly the biggest breakup of her life, and she comes back with "you better work b---h"???????

Annie 0
the GP was turned off by gagz during the btw era, i think applause is the bridge for the transition process to getting them to start liking her again. it will take time, but i'm sure it will happen. i think single #2 will reflect this.
