Dylangaga 216
NOT at all. I couldn't care less about the charts. Its a number, that does change the sound of the song to my ears. How idiotic. BUT, there is a reason that most peoples favorite gaga songs were smash hits - because they catchy, they fun, they're ARTPOP. To me, my opinion, Applause is not ARTPOP, and my opinion is the same regardless if it were number one or number twenty. okay take a seat SHE RELEASED ONE SONG THAT BARELY MADE THE ALBUM and its the LAST TRACK
blahblahblahhhh 15
her hands have been bloody from rehearsals. what are they planning? Where are these from though?

msquare91 1
This. Applause is a good song, but it is not a comeback hit on par with Poker Face, Bad Romance or even Born This Way. I find the song rather insipid and I am getting tired of her putting out mediocre songs - Judas, You and I, Marry the Night and masquerading them with theatrics, a poor man's pop Bjork. In every ARTPOP interview, I am tired of her saying she is a visual artist, she is a performance artist, I'm an artist. Show it, don't tell it. As she said, stop the drama and start the music, but the music has not delivered. Hopefully, the vma performance will change my opinion. And before people start attacking me, I am writing this because I love gaga and her work. I feel like although the songs themselves aren't mediocre, they are mediocre as singles/radio hits. Judas shouldn't have ever even been considered as a single. You and I isn't a song for the radio at all, unless we take a time machine back to the 80s. And Marry the Night could've been great if released earlier, although even then, the lyrics are a bit oblique for the average listener. I think a lot of people just didn't understand what it means to "marry the night," you know? Anyhow, that horse has been beaten to death in this forum. I feel the same about her constantly talking about how much of an artist she is. I know she's very serious about her work and she is a great artist, but I also know from my own creative experiences that my absolute worst work has always come about when I was trying to make "high art" or make it perfect. The best stuff comes out when I'm just goofing around and not aiming for anything in particular. I worry that she's gotten so focused on perfection that she's lost sight of the spontaneity that made her great in the first place. And in the end, art isn't just about art -- it's about life, about reality. I feel like Gaga keeps getting further and further from planet earth and she's making herself un-relatable to the public. Applause is the worst offender so far. I can't relate to the song whatsoever, I just like the sound of it. I couldn't be a Koons if I tried! I hope the rest of the tracks from the album aren't about such pretentious topics.

VasilisVas 5,188
I think Prospect Park because it has a zoo, and Roar = tigers, tigers are at the zoo. Reaching for the skies but it's a possibility. They will tell the ticket holders to her performance where to arrive on Sunday morning inb4 Prism is about possibilities too. Are you someones girl backstage at their show? Is your boyfriend like your dad, just like your dad? Yes to all of the above! I also accept my Russian Roulettes with crossbows, however. The Fame was super relatable because it was about wanting to be famous, and everyone wants to be famous (if you're shallow like me and 99% of the population). And from TFM, so many of the songs were about being treated badly by men and I relate the sh*t out of that. But being applauded by thousands of fans every night while on tour and needing fame to stay alive? Meh. Praying that geniusGa will come out to play at the VMAs and make us all repent for our Applause sins.
