MessyTop 14,389
I LOVE the song. But I have to admit that it was a risky choice for first single. People don't know what to make of the song tbh. I still love it
Toph 375
Gaga just wants to make people dance with APPLAUSE. I agree though, she still is difficult to digest for non monsters. Katy perry is te opposite. That article someone posted is spot on. I still LIVE FOR THE APPLAUSE though :)
Rich 0
Haha some people in this fanbase. Y'all need to know about statistics. Stans and general public are two completely different types of people- stan sales start off massive from day 0 and then decay. GP awareness builds up slowly to a peak and then decays. Peak is determined by how good song/promo etc is. So we've gone past the stan sales as normal hence the decay, and promo hasn't even started yet.... Katy Perry has already been building her GP awareness, has radio deals sorted etc, so of course she's selling heaps. Anyways who gives a **** about the chart really? Would be nice, but think about all the amazing artists that don't even make top
VasilisVas 5,140
Shouldn't it be a bigger deal that Roar is blatant copy of Sara Bareilles’- Brave? If Gaga released it she would get torn to shreds!!! Like seriously!!!!! THIS tbh....She was torn to shreds about Born This Way sounding like Express Yourself and that's when everyone started to hate her and bash her. It's Ironic that even though Roar is a copy and paste of Brave nobody cares. On another hand though, I don't think Brave is really that popular of a song (at least I didn't know it until Roar came out ) Express yourself was one of Madonna's massive hits, so maybe that's why Gaga was criticized so much for it. AquaFire Witch 160
Some of y'all just need to calm down and enjoy the music. It's one thing to want Gaga to be successful. It's another thing to be obsessed with charts and the GP's reaction. I also can't deal with how many people were freaking out for new material, and now that we have it, so many people have just complained about EVERYTHING. You don't have to enjoy every single thing Gaga does, but the incessant negativity is very draining. I agree! Although yeah as a fan you want to see her kick some butt and for me it is because I know she is more talented and a real SHOWWOMAN than any of them!Artists don’t need to hire a promotional team anymore, fans do it! Keep up the good fight guys. I did my part and downloaded the song.I am glad we didn’t have I-Tunes when I was a kid. You just bought the record and that was that. It is very draining! nath4gaga 1,274
I actually heard brave just a few days after it was released cos I love sara, Roar sounds almost the same I was so shocked she is being allowed to get away with it to be honest... maybe people just aren't aware of Brave, it's a much bettet song tbh so they should. Emvee 8,349
Either way Applause will be remembered, Roar will not. If the media continues this rant, and applause doesn't reach at least 100 AI on radio, Applause WILL be remembered. It'll be remembered as Gaga's floppiest lead single. A disastrous thing for an artist of her caliber. Even Kesha managed to comeback with a single that did decently. Emvee 8,349
How is #2 on iTunes a flop ? I am still trying to wrap my head around your logic, guys. #2 is great! If she remains on the top ten, no complaints from me. But radio is cautious in picking up this single. If this continues, Applause WILL drop off the top ten once initial fan sales dissipates. In regard to whether or not we should worry about charts... Applause is a SINGLE. It's supposed to garner interest and success for the sake of the album's success. If Applause fails, ARTPOP as a whole will suffer. This isn't instigating competition with Katy anymore, this is trying to ensure that Gaga's name remains lucrative.
