Hamlet 67
Guys, stop being negative. Relax. ARTPOP and Applause ARE doing well. They're #1 in many countries and top 5/10 in most of the others.
gagabro 268
The real determination of this single's success will be the sales week post-VMAs. Right now, I'm just chillin.

I know everyone's saying this but KP is also performing at the VMAs and she's done way more promo for it. Robin Thicke is performing too. tsvet 676
I just can't with yall. Since when are you fans only because of the charts?! It would be great if she was number one, but she's not rn and tbh.. whatever. You are only destroying your hype by following all those charts.. just sayin'

If Gaga released it she would get torn to shreds!!! Like seriously!!!!!
Batwings 12,882
Some of y'all just need to calm down and enjoy the music. It's one thing to want Gaga to be successful. It's another thing to be obsessed with charts and the GP's reaction. I also can't deal with how many people were freaking out for new material, and now that we have it, so many people have just complained about EVERYTHING. You don't have to enjoy every single thing Gaga does, but the incessant negativity is very draining. Edited August 15, 2013 by Batwings
chiuga 1,970
APPLAUSE is definitely just a fun release. I'm sure gaga knows that the song may not chart as well or create as much impact as her previous lead singles as she confirmed that it almost didn't make the album cut so let's just enjoy the fun. But yes she should get serious with the next single.
PoshLife 16,979
Shouldn't it be a bigger deal that Roar is blatant copy of Sara Bareilles’- Brave? If Gaga released it she would get torn to shreds!!! Like seriously!!!!! It should but it won't because Sara herself is being painfully quiet about it, and her fanbase doesn't have the strength to make it gigantic. I mean, it's gotten a ton of coverage, but without a "Madonna Moment," it's not going to rival the BTW-EY fiasco. By the way, that article relies very heavily on the presupposition of a "lukewarm response from the general public," which just isn't true. The charts have already proven that to be myth. And if she can get to #2 (past Blurred Lines and Luke Bryan) just on Stans alone, then that means we ARE the general public.

It's been on the radio for nearly 5 months...Gaga should be able to easily top that from my perspective. And also Born this Way/EY were a lot further apart than Roar and Brave... Maxxie 37
Gaga doesnt give a flaming turd for sales, but Interscope does. And the number of singles, budget for promo, promotion schedule and tour budget depends on Interscope as well.
Mason 209
Could the fact that first week sales aren't ridiculously big mean that the single could have more longevity? Especially since the second and third week will have big promo with the video and vmas! Everyone won't have the single the first week so there will be more people buying it later on no? I won't worry until after the video and vmas tbh. Edited August 15, 2013 by Mason

Being on #1 in week 2 and 3 still doesn't prove longevity though. Hearing it on the radio for 5 months like Blurred Lines does.
